Zeta-Jones and Willis to Star in a Gambling Movie
Celebrity news! Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bruce Willis, Justin Timberlake, Rebecca Hall and probably a bunch of other famous dudes you know from TV will star in a movie based on the memoir by Beth Raymer, Lay the Favorite, Take the Dog. The production of the film should start in April and it is set to appear on the big screen in 2012.
The autobiography Lay the Favorite: A Memoir of Gambling by Beth Raymer was published just last year and was instantly picked up by the Hollywood producers. The book tells Raymer's story about a woman in her thirties (played by Rebecca Hall) who rises from a Las Vegas cocktail waitress to a top sports bookmaker. Bruce Willis will play play her mentor, Dink Heimowitz, an ex-New York bookmaker who guides Raymer in the sports gambling business. Catherine Zeta-Jones will play the role of Tulip, Dink's wife whereas Timberlake will play Rosie, a young bookie from Long Island.
The fact that the movie is produced by Focus Features and stars such names as Willis and Zeta-Jones allows movie goers as well as those who enjoy some gambling action on the big screen to expect a movie worthy of their attention. The script for Lay the Favorite, Take the Dog was was adapted for the screen by D.V. DeVincentis following Raymer's book and the film is to be directed by Stephen Frears know for such movies as High Fidelity (starring John Cusack), Dirty Pretty Things (with Audrey Tautou) and The Queen (starring Helen Mirren).
