Registration to WSOP 2008

You want to play in the world's most prestigious, best known poker tournament, the World Series of Poker. You know you do. Well, NWP can help.

Use our helpful guide to pick and choose freerolls or cheap buy in tournaments that can actually get you into the WSOP in Las Vegas this year. You can get there for free or very cheaply with a combination of NWP's guide, a bit of luck, and the awesome poker skills you've been honing throughout 2007. Remember, last years' winner, Jerry Yang, took out 6,358 players to win the coveted bracelet (not to mention more than eight million dollars!), and if he can do it, there's really no reason you can't too. So sign-up for a satellite or freeroll, using the information NWP has organized here for our members, and get your ass into the World Series of Poker 2008 at a price you can afford.

New freerolls and satellites will be added to this list as the WSOP '08 draws nearer, so don't forget to check back often.

Friday, May 30, 2008 to Wednesday, July 16, 2008
Rio Hotel & Casino
3700 West Flamingo Road
Las Vegas, NV US

We're getting close folks - time to start planning if you're heading to Vegas for the WSOP. The 39th annual event, presented by Milwaukee's Best Light, has its big kickoff planned for May 30, with tourneys running through July 17, 2008. Entrants may choose their Main Event start dates as long as seats are available on the selected dates. The poker room will be open on May 26th to allow for heavy numbers of hopefuls this year. With a bit of luck, this will moderate the excruciatingly long lines and other registration woes of last year's World Series. Pre-registration can be made beginning in February at the Main Cage of the Rio or at www.worldseriesofpoker.com.

The 2008 WSOP will begin with the $10,000 buy-in World Championship of Pot-Limit Hold'Em and end with the Final Table of the $10,000 buy-in World Championship of No Limit Texas Hold 'Em -- otherwise known as The Main Event. The six other $10,000 buy-in events include: Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'Em; Seven-Card Stud; Limit Hold'Em; Omaha Hi-Low Split Eight or Better; Pot-Limit Omaha; and a new Mixed Event. The Mixed Event will feature eight variations of poker: Limit and No-Limit Hold'Em; Omaha Hi-Low and Pot-Limit Omaha; Seven Card Stud; Razz; Seven Card Hi-Low Split; and 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball.

Like last year, the WSOP will be held at the Harrah's-owned Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, and is presided over by Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack. The good news is that both Pollack and Harrah's have affirmed they are serious about improving conditions for '08 after the numerous glitches that plagued the rapidly-growing event in 2007. As always, in addition to the cash prizes victors of each of the 55 events will win a coveted World Series of Poker gold bracelet, finely crafted by Swiss watchmakers, CORUM.

As NWP's own Dan Druff (Todd Witteles) can attest, one of the many complaints last year centered around the sauna-like conditions of the now infamous 'poker pavilion,' the tented area many 2007 WSOP players were forced to endure as an auxiliary poker room. Harrah's is happy to announce that they heard the players' protests, and have eliminated the intolerable sweat-house this year. "The poker tent is gone!" asserted Pollack. "We heard folks loud and clear last year, and there will be no tents used for tournament play at the 2008 WSOP."

For more information on WSOP pre-registration, go to www.worldseriesofpoker.com.
