PokerStars Releases Long-Awaited Mac Software

PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker site, is releasing its long awaited Mac software (now in beta-stage*). The native OS X version is fully downloadable, as opposed to being an online web browser client. Obviously this is lauded by Mac users since download versions typically run better and have more features then java web browser poker rooms.

Early reports from Mac users on the new PokerStars software are positive. The menus contain the same features as the PC version, and the tables seem to be running smoothly. A few secondary features are missing; for example, the PokerStars Mac beta does not include the layout manager or preferred seat features.

PokerStars System Requirements for Macs - Poker Game Client

Software:

Mac OS X 10.4.10 or later

Hardware:

Minimum system configuration:
· PowerPC G4 or G5 or Intel Mac
· 512MB RAM
· 1024x768 screen resolution or higher
· 60MB free disk space
· 56k dial-up Internet connection

Recommended system configuration:
· PowerPC G4 1Ghz or faster, PowerPC G5 or Intel Mac
· 1024MB RAM
· 1024x768 screen resolution or higher
· 100MB free disk space
· 128kbps or faster DSL or Cable Internet connection


Download and Install Create Account

Start the PokerStars application and choose "Create

Account" in the Account menu.

Enter Marketing Code "NWPOKER"

During the sign-up process, please enter the marketing code in the field as seen below.

This following walks you through the installation. Installation should be trouble free, but if you have any difficulties please e-mail support@pokerstars.com for assistance.

STEP 1 - Download the PokerStars software

First click on DOWNLOAD, and then, if prompted, click "Save File". The install software will now download to your desktop or to your Downloads folder.

STEP 2 - Install the software

You'll see the install file (PokerStarsInstall) on your desktop or in your Downloads folder. Double-click on the file. When the folder (shown to the left) appears, drag the PokerStars icon into your Applications folder.

STEP 3 - Launch the PokerStars software

Double-click on the PokerStars icon in your Applications folder. The PokerStars software will now launch on your desktop.

STEP 4 – Create your personal account

Create your account

Now create your free PokerStars account. Go to “Account” in the menu bar at the top of the screen, then drop down and select “Create Account”. Fill in the necessary fields on the registration form, and be sure to use a valid e-mail address. We will send the validation code you need to finish creating your account to that e-mail address.

STEP 5 – Validate your account

Once you have registered, we will send a validation code to the e-mail address you used in Step 4. To validate your account, go to the menu bar at the top of the screen, select “Account”, then select “Validate Email Address”. Enter the code you received by e-mail, then press “Validate”. Now you’re ready to play!
