Omaha High Poker Rules

Omaha high is one of the worlds most popular poker games. Extremely popular in Europe and in the American Gulf Coast region, the game is growing quickly in popularity every year.

Omaha is a flop game, and it follows the same basic rules as Texas Hold’em, with these differences:

  • Instead of two cards being dealt, a player is dealt 4 cards face down.
  • A player must use two and ONLY two hole cards, and must use three community cards to make the best possible five card hand. This is the most confusing rule of Omaha. For example, if you are dealt AAAA and the board is K K 10 8 7, you do NOT have four of a kind, you have two pair, aces and kings. If you have 3 of once suit, you can only use two cards of that suit to make a flush, ect.
  • Unlike Hold’em, which is commonly played in limit, pot-limit and no-limit variants, Omaha High with very few exceptions is pot-limit.

The rounds of betting, the flop and the procedure for dealing cards is identical to Texas Hold’em.
