Huge Rake Illegal Action Anyone?
Nov 20th, 2005 Poker News submitted by bmicon

LOL @ this whole country and it's views on gaming. I find it funny when you arrest old men for gambling with each other. It makes me laugh when law makers argue over whether a poker tournament is legal to play. What makes poker so special that it can only be played where and in what form as designated by law? (Now it's time to go off on my favorite tangent: how dumb are poker/gaming laws) Here is a simple solution for every states' lawmakers: Sell a general poker licence to poker rooms then monitor and regulate the industry. If a state doesn't do this, then illegal games pop up everywhere. Think about that - the general population loves poker so much, that even though it is illegal to play in home games, thousands still decide to go there! No matter what the legal status of poker is, degenerates are still gonna play - might as well control it, tax it, and make it safe.

The argument Micon makes for legalizing poker is the exact same argument people have been making to legalize weed for the past 30 years. We've seen how successful those people have been.

I just don't get why the government is passing up so much money. If they licensed, and put a 25% tax on, prostitution, weed, and poker, the budget deficit would be gone by Thursday.

"Nobody wants to play limited Hold 'em," said Marcia Choquette, the Daytona track's poker-room director. "That's like watching paint dry."

That cunt Leslie Stahl also just did a hatchet job on 60 Minutes about online poker. She compared online poker to roulette at one point....
