hu please

For once I agree with the fat man.

There are plenty of places to play heads-up limit hold 'em on the net. Pokerstars isn't one of them. I could just be a dickhead to everyone and say, "You want hu? Go play somewhere else", and be perfectly within my rights.

However, I try to respect heads up games WHERE REASONABLE.

I don't feel it's reasonable to "respect" a heads-up request if only one of the two people wants it.

I don't feel it's reasonable to force me to clear out of a game just because a donk switches virtual tables and someone else beats me to the first seat.

I don't feel it's reasonable to make me have to sit out of the game if there's no other action at comparable limits anywhere on the net.

I don't feel it's reasonable for anyone to expect the heads-up courtesy if they have engaged in asshole behavior in the past such as hit-and-running.

For some reason certain people think the "heads up please" is some holy grail of poker etiquette that must be followed at all times. It isn't. In fact, it's a relatively new area of poker etiquette, since the same thing does NOT come up in live games.

People try to angle-shoot with this heads-up BS all the time. A donk sits down, couldn't give a crap if the game is heads up or not, and the other guy says "hu please" because he wants the donk to himself. F that. He has no right to demand such a thing, and is just being selfish. To say that "etiquette" states that I should leave at that point is BS.

Bottom line: I will respect real, actual, factual heads up matches. For example, if Dustin and Vanessa Selbst agreed to play heads up online and went onto Stars specifically to do their match, anyone interrupting it would be kind of a dick. However, "heads up" does not equal "I love playing this donk and don't want you getting any of his money". We're all doing this for a living, and "etiquette" only goes so far once it turns to angle-shooting.
