I have been playing NL for about 3 years now; hold’em for over 20. For the most part, I think I have the “basics” down. But I can’t seem to avoid those one or two hands that simply destroy my stack < insert BB story about 2 and 3 outers here >. Time and time again, I get my chips in the middle “with the best of it” and time and time again, my chips go to the guy holding AQ to my AK or KK to my AA etc waaa blubber blah!
So my question is, how do the top players avoid these hands? Here is my guess, please tell me if I’m correct. They avoid the majority of these because they don’t play $10 + $1 sng’s! Other then that, they get a fair share of bad beats too.
So how does one build a bank roll ( to take a shot at one of the larger buy in events? ), playing a full stable of donkeys EVERY TIME? I’ve been trying the $10 + $1 Double Shootouts. Beat 9 players twice and your in the Sunday Million on Stars. Seems like my best shot. Also, I’ve noticed the avg skill level of players in this specific format ( the double shoot out) seems to be slightly higher then in the rest of the $10 - $20 range tournaments.
OK, now I’m rambling.
How do I take it to the next level?
Thank you for your input!
