I can't smoke herb anymore

I have smoker herb somewhat regularly since high school. I took a few weeks off and had a toke and it made me think of all the negatives in my life. Overall my life is good and when not on herb i am very happy. So i tried a few more times thinking it was just an oddity but the same bad thoughts keep coming when i smoke. I just don't get it.

Weed has basically saved my life as it was a substitute for drinking and now instead of smoking i drink a lot more which is bad for my health.

Herb used to be such a great way to relax and now i am at a crossroads where i don't know what to do.

When i talk about smoking i only smoke a few times a week of high grade bud, and only a bowl or so at night. The best way to unwind and relax but i just can't seem to do it anymore without going through all the cons instead of pros going on in my life.

I need some advice on what to do so i can go back to enjoying the wonderful things that bud has done for me.

If i don't find out a way to overcome the bad thoughts i'm almost guaranteed to become an alcoholic.
