Weird.

Usually Stars has its party the night before the WSOP Main (tonight), but this year they're having it on the day off (July 7th), which is stupid.

Why is it stupid? Because you want to have these parties before people are already depressed about being donkdown from the Main, and everyone's in a good mood. A lot of people won't be in the celebrating mood on the 7th.

Anyway, in past years, starting from 2004, Pokerstars put on a very nice party, complete with beautiful displays of all kinds of food, which you could tell was expensive and high-quality. They also weren't difficult about who was allowed in. As long as you knew about the party, nobody stopped you from entering, whether you were officially invited or not -- and there was more than enough food to go around, even with the thousands of attendees.

I didn't make it to the party in '06 or '07, but I heard they weren't quite as nice.

This year's is odd. Why a Burlesque party? How many Pokerstars players are even likely to be fans of burlesque -- which is kind of an old-time (and cleaner/less-revealing) form of stripping?

They also claim that you need to show either a WSOP entry ticket (doesn't matter if you won it through Stars or not) or a WSOP Media pass to get in. Probably any WSOP event receipt is good enough.

Also, for anyone bored at the Rio:

You can get in free if you take the gay shuttle from the Rio to Sapphire. Runs until 1am tonight. I'm not going to bother.

So I have a bunch of FPPs and just made Supernova, so I figured I'd buy in to the WSOP Main with FPPs. Of course, because of the gay Harrah's "no third party buyin" rule, they cannot register me, but instead just plop the $ in your Stars account and you register with your own money.

Of course, I wonder how some people handle this when they are broke and win a Stars satellite at the last minute for the WSOP. How do they get registered, if there's not enough time for a check or wire to arrive? I have a feeling that perhaps they are making exceptions for people and giving them cash for $10k Stars money somewhere at the Rio. Does anyone know any cases of this occurring?

If you know of anyone who has done this, please let me know either here or in PM. Thanks.

Tried to hit-n-run, was like $81 from donkdown, ran it to $2800, got greedy, and left with $217.
