fold equity

Mr druff when you are nursing a short stack in the middle to late stages of a tournament and the antes have kicked in, at what point do you feel you lose your fold equity? 10m, 5m, 10 big blinds, or other? example: I'm in the big blind with 5-5 . the blinds are 600-300, ante 50. I have a little over 7200 chips including my big blind. My m is about 6 I have a little over 10 big blinds. The cut off seat raises to 2300, it's folded to me. He has a little over 12000 chips after the bet. He has made this type of wager before and never had to show. I shove the rest of my chips figuring if he calls I should be racing. Would you have shoved here or waited one table orbit to see if you could be first in the pot with around 5900-6000 chips and possibly holding a better hand.
