I figured that since I made that long post about what a dbag Micon is, I might as well put out a public retraction.

Hung out with him for a few hours last weekend and it turns out I might have had a bad read. He's hilarious and overall a good dude. Maybe his temperament varies as his bankroll does or maybe i just had a bad read on him.

Fuhoser also moved up several notches in my book and meeting him irl gives his posts a different tone. quote of the night "are you guys gonna stick around long? Should I get weird drunk?"

jewdonk was around as well and he seemed way more normal than I thought he would. didnt talk with him much, but he seemed like a nice guy. He was definitely having a good time, as was everybody

I also met Druff for the first time. He was pretty awkward, not sure if thats just how he is or if it was because he thinks I have some sort of epic nwp hatred in my blood. He's taller than you think. He is very similar to his posts on NWP...he had a lot to say about the seizures and came off as both smart and 100% set in his thinking on the matter. good to meet you, todd...next time maybe don't act like I buttfucked your dog

I just listened to the radio show and I wanted to respond to your question of “why did you leave nwp?”

I understand that NWP is now a semi instead of a sports car. There are lots of users, it’s a decent sized site and its tough to please everybody. I think the first thing to happen is that the old school users got upset when a bunch of retards came in and started posting more and more ridiculous, retarded shit. It got to the point where nobody wanted to post stuff about their lives since people were bringing stuff into real life, black cocks were being pshopped onto everybody, and it became less about making your e-friends laugh and more about being offensive at every turn.

As NWP grew, it became less and less like what it used to be. The core problem is that an uncensored site full of shenanigans can never truly appeal to the masses. If you create a place where anything and everything can be said, expect most people to be offended. As ownership tried to commercialize the site and make it more masses-friendly, you basically told the core group of users to go fuck themselves, that what we had spent years and years building was now nothing like how it used to be, and many of our friends were now banned from shooting off.

I was one of the most vocal proponents of the VIP, but I think that was the beginning of the end right there. As soon as the core group of posters had no reason to post personal stuff in shooting off, it became a complete wasteland. I will freely admit that this was a bad idea looking back on it, but it certainly wasn’t recognized and dealt with by the powers that be. I don’t really care about the business aspect of running NWP, just the funny stuff my e-friends posted on there.

I understand wanting to get rid of the black cocks etc. I thought NWP was getting worse and worse as well, but the solutions that were introduced were done in such a terribly offensive manner, in a “fuck you” type of way. I think that other things contributed to it getting unreadable as well, namely allowing a handful of terrible posters to post in every thread as much as they wanted. Nobody has any interest in what those retards have to say, and in the old days they were the minority, but now they are the majority.

Post-limiting was a terrible idea as well. Why would you want to limit someone like IndianaSlim? If you actually read his posts, over half of them (an incredible ratio on nwp) were witty and clever. Did he constantly mock Micon to no end? Yes. Did Micon deserve it? Yes. Surely there could have been a better use of this feature to limit actual terrible posters that completely diluted the quality of content (serial fail etc). Vwls was the only mod that kept track of what was going on, that was in tune with the core posters of the site, and now that she’s gone, it’s clear that nobody will have the poster’s interests in mind.

The real reason I left is that instead of creative, innovative solutions to problems, it was all terrible administrating done at random by Micon who had NO CLUE what was going on. He would frequently demean the posters on his own site by being completely rude to them, acting as if he is better than them and they are completely worthless to him. Why would anyone want to contribute somewhere when the main benefactor is basically treating you like scum? In addition to all of these things, the core decision making in Micon’s head has clearly not changed. He still doesn’t understand why this has happened, or what he has done wrong. Everybody makes mistakes, but smart people learn from theirs and Micon clearly hasn’t learned a thing from this fiasco.

I understand the firing of Vwls, since she was going against what her bosses were telling her to do. However, suggesting that Micon is like any real-world boss is laughable. Any paying job in the real world that was run the way Micon apparently communicates with his mods would be quit right away. You can’t be “hands-off/hands-on”. Either let the mods make the decisions and back away, making only major decisions yourself, or actually read the fucking forums. How the firing was handled is a prime example of the horrible decisions that Micon makes that you have to handle/clean up.

Druff, I wish it was possible to separate you from the terrible practices of Micon. I have always enjoyed your posts and think you are an interesting personality to read on the interwebs. Unfortunately, Micon does love NWP and will never realize that he is the limiting factor on this site.

I think its too bad that you guys managed to fuck everything here up. Like you said on the show, its very tough to get a lot of traffic to a forum. I highly doubt you will get your core posters back, since the only things missing from Boris are your posts and some poker pros that likely won’t jump ship (O comes to mind). The other 50k users a month are pretty much worthless to the regulars and don’t provide much content.

I think its probably too late to save NWP, since Micon will always run it and he makes terrible decisions and acts like a douche.

Unethical? Just Bad Etiquette or neither?

Was bored off my ass tonight in St. Louis (all my friends here work and don't go out Sundays, god forbid) and decided I would try out the new baller casino downtown. Casino was nice, but the dealers in the poker room are retarded (not related to the following story)

Playing $1-3nl, I get into a couple hands with a regular at the casino, this black dude named Curt. He knows everybody at the casino and makes sure everybody at the table notices him saying hello etc. He has been talking it up quite a bit at the table and feels like he is the captain. He is sitting on around $500 or so and has been 3betting about the right amount etc (seemed decent) . He takes down the first two hands we play where he c/r me on the flop then goes the distance on turn and river.

3rd hand we play together I have 9T off and raise it up to 15 (sfstandard for my style). Flop is 9s8d3s. I c-bet $30 into the 2 callers feeling pretty good about my hand. Sure enough he c/r min from the SB. I flat knowing he will lead any turn. Turn is a devil card: Ad. He throws out a $100 chip and I start thinking about the previous hands I've seen him do this on, looks like I might be able to induce another bet with a call here given his previous hands I've seen.

River is a 2h (perfect) and he throws out $150. I stack out $150 immediately, this was my plan the entire time. As I pick it up to call he says "set" and starts to flip his cards. I look up quizzically and the dealer says "he hasnt called yet" and Curt is obviously VERY sorry, he didn't know! Oh man, he is so sorry, he can't believe it.

I immediately called him, then before he flipped his cards I said "That's about as close to cheating as you can get, fucking angle shooter" Sure enough, he doesnt want to show his hand. I demand the dealer show his hand which is 97 (lol). I don't give up on calling him an angle shooter, making sure everyone in the place knows what he did. He claims he has no idea what I'm talking about, but is clearly embarrassed that somebody is calling him out.

So, unethical or just bad etiquette?


He started cracking jokes with the rest of the table about how he wouldn't want to do anything wrong etc, trying to get people back on his side. I cracked jokes about how he was such a bigshot yet shouldn't afford to rebuy max (he was sitting on about $200, LOL). One of the other players started cracking jokes too, a loud asian player. I basically owned them both by taking down a big pot ($200+) against them both with 4-7o on an ATK59 board with a river bet which made the asian think for a while. He joked as he was thinking that he shouldn't do anything unethical against me. As he reluctantly mucked, I flipped up my 4-7 looked at both of them and smiled broadly. They both shut up (they had been loudly laughing together) and I asked "who's laughing now? Why so quiet down there?". Several other players chuckled at that one. PWNT.

I left about 10 minutes later with a few buyins in my rack and called the black dude an angle shooter loudly once more. He had less than $100 at that point

Last spring, we used to have senior citizens from the local retirement home volunteer at our school. Every Thursday morning the retirement home's shuttle bus would drop them all off. They stopped coming to volunteer because of this incident:

In case I haven't already made this clear: Tards get extremely attached to things, but it is very hard for them to express their emotional attachment appropriately. One Thursday morning, I am walking four of my 1st grade tards to the gym for "adapted P.E." One of them spots one of the grandmas getting off the bus. He freaks out, lets loose an ear-splitting scream, and charges her like a fucking bull, knocking her to the ground, really, really hard.

I run over and pull him off of her. She is laying flat on her back on the pavement in front of the school, writhing in what is obviously excruciating pain. The office ultimately had to call an ambulance, and she was taken to the hospital with a broken collar bone and numerous broken vertebrae.
