Buster CR wrote in the DC sniper thread: "This was my DA. I first met him when I got a DUI when I was young and he was just an ADA. My lawyer calls me into his office. He asks my attorney if I'm cool, attorney says yes, he says 7k and it didn't happen. I tell him I'll have the money by the end of the day and it disapperared."

I have had 2 of these things happen to me.

1. I was getting divorced in grad school(bring on the nooses) it was a nothing in property, around $6k. I am waiting in court with my Attny. He opens his case, folds some papers up, puts them in the envelope, seals the envelope, and hands it to me, telling me to put it in my jacket pocket. Court went very well for me, and the judge ruled on the spot. We go have a beer after, and when I get home I open the envelope, and it is the signed divorce decree. To this day I have no idea why it went down this way. I was told some time later that the judge had a beef with my exwifes family.

2. I too had a DUI go away, but for only $2k, when the the DDA said he would make it happen my jaw almost hit the floor. Best 2k I ever spent.

I have no faith in our justce system to this day, I wonder why
