Just read this over from a post @ 2+2, pretty interesting stipulations in the fine print here. It makes you think you should read the fine print of any poker site before you attempt to qualify for the ME.
http://www.pokerstars.com/wsop/terms/According to their terms, they pay for the entry, plane ticket, and hotel stay at the Rio (unless Harrah's picks up the tab), but you can't negotiate your endorsement with them. No opportunity to go elsewhere to any other company if you win for another year, and another 2 years for other gaming companies. You cannot wear any other logos of any other company throughout the tournament, including through the final table (the term of the agreement ends when you bust out).
Considering the huge "benefit" Harrah's touts of being one of the November Nine is that you have more time to market yourself and make more endorsement money, one can argue this opportunity is completely taken away by Stars. Although I am sure for 90% of poker players, it wouldn't matter much in terms of money making potential as they aren't marketable enough, it does limit the slightest of chances of making extra dough on the side. I know as a 20-something male, if I ever got lucky enough to get in via PStars, and THEN made the FT of the WSOP, I could argue that I potentially could get endorsements from alcohol companies, clothing, and sports/poker media sites.
Now this would be fine if they gave you some compensation, but they don't. You get no additional compensation whatsoever for making the final table UNLESS you win the whole thing. You DO get another 1 million dollar package deal if you do. 500K in live event entries, 100k in PS tournment entries, and 400k in cash.........however, there are stipulations if you win. Some of which I wouldn't mind, like having to play a minimum of 15 hrs per week on the site, blogging twice a week, and promotional appearances on at least 40 days
BUT the winner doesn't get to select the live events, PokerStars selects them. The winner must give Pokerstars access to his official website so Pokerstars can advertising how much they want on said site, and if the winner has no such site, he or she must set one up so Pokerstars can advertise on it.
Here's to rooting that the owner of consumptionjunction.com wins via PStars this year.
