so for quite sometime i have wondered what to do when you see a blind person at a street corner or about to board some type of public transportation - offer to help, or don't help (just go on your way)? i don't know any blind people and have never asked anyone. most of my life I have not offered to help, because i have been under the impression that if they are out and about, they probably have pretty good skills at getting around not being able to see, and with their stick. Also I never wanted to offend anyone by offering to help, as they are probably completely capable, and might take offense thinking that you think they can't get around on their own. today though i saw an older blind guy that looked quite helpless and i thought i should offer to help him cross because the street he was about to cross was kind of sketchy, and no one else was around. He seemed offended and told me he had lived here for 25 years and knows the street well. Then he crossed in front of me and got run over by a bus. No, of course not, but for real, he seemed offended and as i went on my way i thought I should have asked him if i should ever ask blind people if they need help crossing the street or getting on a bus/the subway, but obv i did not, so what say thee? obv :sweetblog, :raycharles, :garycolemanwhofuckincares, and option #9...
