So I was pretty pumped up for Vegas. I hadn't been out there in a few years and the last 2 trips did not go so well. I dropped like 2 or 3 k last time and 10-15k playing BJ the time before. Hopefully this trip would be better.
I was scheduled to leave Boston at 7:30 A.M. on weds and the problem was I had been up multitabling the 2 nights before and I only could get 2 or 3 hours sleep each night. Maybe it was excitement and maybe it was just cause I am a poker degen I dunno.
So I hop on the plane and I could not sleep for some reason. I have no fear of flying or anything I just couldnt't sleep. The flight went fina and I planned on getting some sleep when I hit my hotel room.
Well the plane touched down and I was traveling through the airport and penn from penn and teller wandered past me. Jesus he is just as big as he looks on T.V. I walked outside Mcarron and I swear I almost melted. It was like 110 degrees. I was coming from Boston and it has literally been 60 and raining here for 6 or 7 weeks and there is will probably be no sun for another week.
Finally after fiding this stupis shuttle bus and having the shuttle dude stop at 5 hotels before mine I finally got dropped off at The Excalibur. I walked in and it was pretty packed for a weds. Bunch of illegals and white trash type were wandering around the joint playing slots and clogging the air with smoke. I stroll past the Digital Poker Machines and they look pretty cool.
Eventually I make my way to the counter and check in. These scumbuckets charge me 35 bucks off the top to use their pool gym spa etc. for a week. The fee is assesed whether you use this shit or not. So then I ask the lady at the counter what the deal is for internet service? She tells me it is 14 bucks a day with a 30 dollar deposit. WTF? I'm not used to this. I figured the wifi would be free cause they got competitors. I am used to free shit at Foxwoods and they have no competitors.
Well whatever I head down to my room and it is located on the 1st floor. I get all my stiuff put away and I plan to sleep for at least 3 or 4 hrs. I lay in bed for an hr and I can't sleep. It is insomnia at this point oplus add in the fact that the bed was probably the most uncomfortable bed ever. Another thing, this room is a fucking shithole. I have stayed itn shitholes all of all sort in my day when I was partying my ass off but this place may just take the cake. They said this place was built in 1990 but the room felt like it was built in 1970. Shitty ass tv, 8 channels, AC barely worked, the keys to the doors didnt work half the time. You get it, a real shithole. C money was right when he said they should demolish this place.
So I get a text from my pal Setofks and Lexicon as well and they are tearing it up at some video poker bar at Caezars. I hop in the shower and head over. I walk up to the bar and meet these guys and Benny Hogan for a few drinks. All 3 are very nice guys and they are degening it up at these machines. These machines are virtually impossible to beat. There is only one way to beat them. You must outdrink the amount of cash you put in. As long as you are playing they will pour you whatever. So I went to town on shots and redbull and vodkas for an hr. I would say we all git our moneys worth.
We decide to head over to Excalibur for some digital poker and we stop at another one of these bars while awaiting the arrival of Mr. B, Druff and Micon. Me and Set are waiting for lex and his buddy to come over cause they decided to walk over in 110 degree heat(
). In the meantime we are busy polishing off drinks and shots at rapid fire pace. About 15 mins pass and they show up. Dirty B shows up as well and he is just about one of the nicest most genuine guys you will ever meet. We toss a few back while waiting for the rest of the crew to show up but they are still doing radio. We probably should have slowed down a bit but we didn't. Dirty B splits cause it was late and Druff shows up.
Druff is also a very solid guy and we were talking a little blackjack strategy as he showed up and he agreed the only thing +ev about those machines is to outdrink them. Finally Micon and Martha and Mr.B stroll in and we are about to get a game on. Micon has taken a lot of heat on Nwp for shitting the bed in certain spots but regardless of anyones personal internet feelings towards the guy when it comes down to it he is a good guy and a pretty fun dude to hang with. Martha was a very sweet girl as well.
So we gear up and set the machines to .50-1.00 plo. Game was 20 min buy with a 300 max. I bought in for 120 and had my stack up to 900 or so within the first 45 mins. I then lost half my stack to Setofks on a flop of j105 with 2 diamonds. I held pocket aces with the nut diamond draw vs his set of tens but i bricked out and he took it down. Funny thing is when I mentioned this hand to him 2 days later he didn't remember LOL. Then Dustin "Hungry like the" Wolf showed up and Pwned us all silly. Dustin is a man of few words but he let his Omaha skills do the talking this evening. I think he ran a 300 buyin to around 2k and took off a little while later. How Long you ask? I have no fucking clue because this is when I started to black out a bit and lose track of time . I started racing stacks with Dustin on just about any 4 I held and he won the race every time. All the while since we started every time the waitress came around I ordered a Redbull and Vodka and a shot of Jager. I was pretty smashed to say the least. I think at one point I remember telling druff that I knew how to counteract every move he made in the 100-200 game and I would Pwn him silly LOL. He quickly replies that there was know way. Well he is right. The guy is a damn good player and I have probably learned most of the strategies and methods I use in Limit poker from watching this guys plays or reading this guys posts for the past 5 or 6 years.
Now it is getting late and Setofks gets up to take a piss and Mr. B clicks sit out for him . The poker manager dude threatens Mr. B that he would boot him if he touched his controls again. What a fucking prick. The guy knew we were one group and he probably knows that Micon and Mr. B play there alot and provide a good deal of business and he has to pull a tough guy. What a dickhead IMO. SO now setofks wants to play some BJ and him Druff and Mr. B head off to the pits. All the while they were gone we tried to get a game of NL stud 8 going but we couldnt get it off the ground cause of that dick manager. Finally they come back and set dumped like 2k or so and I think Mr B lost and Druff Obv Pwned for like 1500 or so obv. I'm not sure how everyone did in the Plo but I know Mr.B. crushed for about 1500-2k , lexicon busted, I lost around 300, set busted and the others IDK.
I think that about wraps up that portion of the night accept for some geek from florida starting shit with Mr B. cause he aint taking care of Set cause he dropped an envelove of benjamins on the floor. Guy was a toolbag extraordinaire. I was prob a little loud towards the end of the night but what the heck, you try leveling 30 drinks and see where it leaves you. Hopefully I wasn't too out of line LOL. Oh yeah one more thing in the middle of that session this guy Doug "Seymour Flops" approaches me and heres I am a limit specialast somehow and offers to put up 500 of my buyin for the 1500 shootout and I accept and I was planning on playing on 500 of my own and I had 500 sold but I didn't wind up playing (more on that later).
So all these guys leave the poker room and I hop in a 50c-1 game and I start busting guys left and right. I keep the shit flowing all afternoon till around 4 or 5 pm. Vodka and redbull and Jager every half hr when the weaitress comes by. She probably never cut me off because I was throwing her a fin min sometimes 10 everytime too. These were dble jagers too. How I did all this drinking with no blow is beyond me. By the time for aor 5 rolled around I waqs told if I swore once more I was booted from there and I also got into it with some semi-midget from kentucky. We got into it pretty good but became friends later. He later told me he was trying to bait me into punching him so I would get arrested. I would never do that though because when it comes down to it I control my temper always and I rarely get into confrontations.
Finally Set calls me and he comes down to play some plo and he comes up with a great idea. he asks me if I have my laptop in my room. I reply yes. He says lets go play 30-60 and split the action. I only had like 1200 in my account so we agree to play 2 tables of 15-30. On the way to the room we grabbed 4 red bull and vodkas and it took a while to get the net working but eventually we got it going. The deal was I would man the mouse and do the clicking but if one of us had a strong opinion on a move we would go with it and boy did this work. It was good to get a perspective for some things someone else does that you would never do or see a different approach to certain situations or vice versa but if of one of us really felt strong about a move thats what we used. It worked out very well because like 3hrs later we were up like 3600 FTCW. I think we wound up quitting up around 3k. That made up for the 300 I lost in the digital poker. How they didnt drain me of all my money that afternoon I will never know. I bet I managed to bust like 20 people that afternoon though playing like a dick but I got stacked a lot myself
So anyways before you know it there are like 10 or so Nwpers/Boris in my room for pregame before we head out. I think it was me, set, lex, usc, jewdy, hoser, hogan,usc, donk tilt,syphon and maybe a couple others but it was a good time. Just shooting the shit about randome forum BS like why delaware is/isn't god and why I think Sonny is the best poster of the year (which he is) etc. Somehow some pow showed up on my tv and I took a few whacks and I deeply regretted that later on as I was ready to crash and all these guys were heading out .
So after a couple hrs of drinking they all take off and I decide I am going to crash. I tried goddamnit but I just laid in Bed all night so miserable. This is why I stopped drinking earlier this year. I hate feeling like this because when I go full force these fucking hangovers take days to cure. Add in the fact I probably took down 2 packs of smokes ( and I had just quit a few months back) and it is now thursday night/fiday morning and I have slept only maybe 6 hrs since monday. I was weezing as well and I cought a cold at some point which added more fuel to the fire. I laid in bed till about 10 am when donk tilt and usc showed back up. They stayed the day and they are both great guys as well. I felt real bad for USC cause on his way in his car died about 60 miles out and he had to junk it cause the engine went to shit. So Donk Tilt played some sngos on my lappy but later got a ride back to SD from jewdy . Sucks for him too cause he left his keys in USCS car. What a fucking nightmare for em both. Usc crashed for the night and when i woke up the next day i popped in the bathroom and I look on the floor and their is a cockroach kibbying on his back on the floor. I yell USC check this out- A COCKROACH. He's like what? I think he thought I said some thing about my cock and hes like HUH? Im like na man a fucking cockroach, this thing was a bigass cockroach so I flush the motherfucker and I head out for some lunch. I come back and there is another one. So I head to the desk and the upgrade me to a better room and apologize. Oh and I never played that tourney cause I was in no shape to make a decision. I coudnt decide what I wanted for dinner never mind try and play optimal Limit Hold EM
I switch rooms and get a text from set and I head down to the digital room and meet up with him hoser(solid dude) and syphon. Syphon Pwned some NL for likr 5 buyins and we switched the game to PLO. Syphon decided to play some "Strip Poker Tournament" This is by far one of the weirdest things I have seen In my life. They have this really hot stripper dance on a stage and every time some gets eliminated she takes a piece of clothing off. Was hilarious. Meanwhile we got another PLO game going with Hoser and Set and Mr. B. Syphon got eliminated and wanted to punch some guy cause he slowrolled him with aces. I think Mr. B and Hoser and Set Pwned. I broke Even. Syphon got stacked once and decided he hates Omaha. We quit around 2 or 3 and they went out and I stayed in.
I decided I wasn't going to drink for the rest of the trip and probably longer than that and I stuck to it. I played some BJ and pwned them for like 300 and quit. I went and got some quiznos which was a total ripoff in the casino. Footlong Roast Beef Value Meal was like 15.50 ftcl. Alot of other shit was outrageous as well. A bottle of water was like 4.00 , same for a beer. I guess it just makes up for how cheap they make the rooms. I took a peak at the Mcds menu there and there prices were standard but everything else was markup in this shithole. I just crashed sunday night . I had a major cold going and I still needed to catchup on sleep.
I wake up monday and decide to head over to the wsop and check it out. I have been here a week and havn't been over there yet. I have the cabdriver take me to the spa first. This asian girl pops out from the back. She is prob about 28 but she is a dime piece. I was looking for a good massage and I was going to pay the 90 for 45 mins but she talks me into 120 for 60 mins. This girl was so hot she could have talked me into handing her the 1k I had in my pocket. So I go in the back and get undressed. She gives me the full body shower. I dry off and she takes me to the massge room. She gives me probably the best massage I have ever had in my life. And then towards the end she stcks my hand down her pants and she pulls out her tits . She says you give me good tip right. I'm like yeah and I hand her 30 bucks. She talks me into giving her 100 when I know damn well I am getting hosed but she knew I was a tourist and she knew I wasn't about to fold. But to tell you the truth the whole massage was worth the 220. Where I usually go in providence its 80 total but whatever. SO I paid her off and she took care of business and everyone waqs happy.
I then grabbed a cab and headed over to the rio. What a clusterfuck that place is. I skimmed threw a few rooms trying to find setofks but couldn't. I saw a few of the bignmae douchebags around with all the fanboys and girls taking pictures and getting autograpghs. Fucking hilarious watching a 37 yr old guy ask Norman Chad or Danny Negreanu for their Autograph but I guess thats what it has come to now that poker has hit the mainstream. I strolled around for about 10 mins. I couldn't find any cash games or sattys cause the place is set up by a fucking monkey so I decided to split and head to Bellagio.
This is the first time I have ever been to Bellagio. I walk in and I stroll through looking for a poker room sign but there was none. I stopped in the cafe and grabbed a wuick bite to eat. I left there hooked a right and boom there she is. It was much smaller than I anticipated but it was run well. I was surprized they just had the pencil and paper for lists and not the modern computer screens but their method worked. I waited about 25 mins for my 15-30 seat and watched that game and man they all played pretty bad. Finally my name was called and I got in there . The table was full of tourists from all over and I would say 7 players sucked and 2 were good. As a matter of fact one of the better players was a lil tricky and I had him pegged on everything he was trying btu he kept hitting miracle after miracle on me and before you knew it I was in the hole like 1k. I reloaded 400 more and I made a few hands and took control of the table. I ran that 400 up over 2kish in a few hrs. Was kinda funny cause the dude on my right was very familiar with my game and me likewise with him cause we play a ton on stars. I really did most of the damage when the game went to 6 max. God please tell these poker room managers to make 6 max tables. I would pay double or triple rake. That's how bad they play 6 handed.
So I am cruising along and the game gets 3 handed and the 2 biggest stiffs in the history of the worls are at my table. Mr. B and Syphon were there earlier and were playing with one of these guys earlier so they can attest how bad this guy was. I don't like playing 2 or 3 handed but I just couldnt refuse vs these clowns. SO basically the bigger of the 2 stiffs was prob in this game for 5k total before the night is over. Problem is the other stiff ran like got AND CLEANED ME OUT!!!!!!!!! I made like 5 pairs in 1 hr. Every time I cont bet with air I was popped. Everytime I made a straight his was bigger. Was a sick ending to my trip losing to these two guys but what the hell . 3handed anything can happen. I decided not to reload and take off. Oh yeah 1 more thing they were playing 4k 8k horse in Bobby's Room with 1k 2k plo with no cap cause durr was playing . What a bunch of sick fucks huh.
So I took off and slept all day. I woke up and watched set play a bit of a tourney after he just got busted and cashed in a wsop event
. he bust from that and we went to dinner at the Excalibur. We hit the Buffet and man it was fucking gross. Everything was either old, overcooked or undercooked or too dry or too warm . Basically it was the worst buffet of all time as set can attest. We jetted from their and I crashed out and grabbed my plane at 730 am this morn. All in all for my vegas trip including money I spent I broke even if you add up all the gambling I did. I also went 9-1 betting baseball. I lost a game tonight and I quit for the summer for real
I am back in Boston Now and I don't know what is worse. 110 in vegas or 60 and rainy in Boston. It really hasnt stopped raining here for 7 weeks and it probably wont stop for 5 days. Back to Multitabling I guess. Gonna play 3-6 for a few more days and if I am going to move to 5-10 in 2 days. If I beat that pretty good I will test some 10-20 and 15-30 on occasion. I will be Supernova very soon so that is a bonus as well. From now till Football it is just going to be poker online and thats it.
I am also heading back to the gym tomorrow and I am going to work my ass off. I started going back like 6 weeks ago hardcore and somehow I busted a nerve in my back and it is about 97 percent healed now. I had lost about 10 lbs till this happened and put me on the shelf. I was basically held back to just walking a little and laying in bed for a few weeks but I am motivated to get back in shape. The most amazing thing is how I have been out 2 times since quitting smoking, I smoked then put them right down with no desire to smoke at all. I guarantee I will cut enough weight to be dunking basetballs by the fall on a 10 foot rim. If anyone wants to take that bet on a prop bet then try me. You will fail. That's it for now
