To give me a worse story of customer service than this one I encountered today.
So last night me and my friends are chilling in my apartment playing Halo and one of them realizes his car is missing from the apartment complex. It was obviously towed as has happened to about 5 of my friends before despite having the guest pass in it. The complex has a terrible policy that rapes the tenants and they make money off the contract from the tow company. If you show the tow company the pass when you get there they will tell you to pay the $75 and take it up with the complex, if you take it up with the complex they will tell you to take it up with the tow company. For one of these occasions I requested the digital photography from the tow company (never got), requested it from the management 5 times and they never called back or emailed it. (They are supposed to take pics of the dash to prove there was no pass) One more bit of background about where I live, it's a luxury apartment complex in downtown Scottsdale with about 300 units (estimate). I pay $1300 / month to rent a single bedroom, so it's not exactly dog shit. This is a preface to what happened to this afternoon.
Today I call the apartment complex to complain. I know nothing will get done, but I want them to know I'm pissed off, and this policy is not beneficial to the residents. Every time a pass is filled out the tow company will be able to find some discrepancy which justifies their towing. I don't want to go into them all because it's like 6 occasions and every time something different but trust me it's bull shit. So I'm on the phone to the front office today while I'm in my office and I talk to the secretary, eventually I need to talk to the manager, so she comes on the phone. I tell her who I am, and say that their towing policy is "bullshit," she then says I can do without the profanity and I tell her that is bad customer service, she then barks into the phone "grow up" and file written complaint with corporate obviously wanting to avoid the whole situation. I call back and get back on with the secretary and ask for the manager again, she says hold, I'm on hold for 5 minutes before it just hangs up. At this point I pack up all my shit from my office get into my car and drive at about 95 down to the apartment complex.
When I get there I am greeted by some fat 28 year old woman. I tell her who I am and ask to speak to the manager, she informs me that the manager is in a meeting. I say, well when is she out of her meeting, she doesn't respond. I say where is the person I talked to on the phone. She says I am the person you talked to and the manager won't speak to you because you used profanity. (So basically the secretary put me on the phone with someone who pretended to be the manager, she had no idea what to do, pull the profanity card because she didn't want to deal with it. Already fucked up.) At this point I ask, "Is this a fucking joke?" She then dives for the phone like it's a double cheese burger and says she is calling the policy. At this point I am in between a state of confusion, shock, hilarity, and overall just, WTF? When she's on the phone she lies to cop! She says, I refused to leave, when at no point did I refuse to leave. In fact, I was basically walking out the door when she dove for the phone like the pacman jones strippers went for those singles. Then she says I used profanity towards her (which I didn't, I called their policy bullshit) and that I repeatedly called them back. (I called them back once) She then says, that I am interrupting business! I yell WHAT!? I AM YOUR BUSINESS, I'M YOUR CLIENT, YOU DON'T REALIZE THAT!? loud enough for the officer to hear on the line. Then she pulls out her file and starts describing me. She says I am white, and short (I'm 5'11" lol) and I'm wearing a light blue oxford shirt with dark jeans. The cop must have been rolling her eyes because, the next thing she said, and he's a resident? The bitch manager says, yes, he's a resident.
The cop 1 female, who might have been hot 25 years ago, comes to talk with me. I talk to her for about 20 minutes and basically turn the tables saying that what they are doing is enforcing an illegal contract, breaking a fiduciary duty to their residents by knowingly having policies that affect them in a negative way. She tells me to take them to court if I want to, which I probably won't.
What I am doing is writing a letter to all the real estate magazines strongly against this place, and writing a letter to the ADRE (arizona department real estate) and writing to corporate urging them to get qualified people to run this place.
Any other suggestions?
