repoman bike question

Repoman or anyone else that has a Bike, I am going to get a bike prob sometime this month can any of you guys make a recommendation on what I should get? I really like the look of the 06 SUZUKI GSXR 750, however some people advocate getting a "starter" bike for you're first bike. Do you think its worth the extra money to get a starter or should i just go for the Suzuki straight away?
