So I've been playing on Pokerstars for about 6 months now, not really getting too serious on it, just buying in $20-40 and playing around with it. The level of play wasn't as bad/talented as I expected it to be. I'm going to be honest and say I lost my first 2-3 buyins, but when I deposited $100 I did pretty well with it. The thing is, I got arrogant and played higher stakes feeling I was only winning because of my talent and not the fact that I was hitting cards.
I think that if I deposit $1,200 into my account I might be able to do well, however, I was thinking about switching it to Cake poker for the rakeback. It seems at the amount of hands I would play with the stakes I would be playing, I would stand to gain $6,700 a year from rakeback, assuming I can make it that long. That along with the $500 deposit bonus, wuold equate to a refund of over $7k, which would obviously help.
I was thinking that the $1,200 bankroll would be good for .50/1 NL 6-max games. My question to you guys on here is if that is about the right place to be playing. I would normally buy into those games with $60 and figured 20 buy-ins was an ok amount. Then again, I've never tried to play online seriously before, so perhaps you guys that have can help me out.
Also, I've never played at cake poker and was wondering how the competition is there? Any advice on what to do and what not to do when starting out? Like ways to not tilt all your money away, haha.
