I really liked this movie. And I could not imagine it would have been as good with Nicholas Cage. Rourke seems to fit this roll perfectly.
Although it is a sad story, I think it tells a good story and isn't too far off from how many of these 80's wrestlers lives ended up. Not everyone ended up like Hogan. I had been waiting a while to see this movie and it didn't disappoint.
Also, Marissa Tomei still looks fucking good.

Reminded me of when I was hanging out at the sport's bar and they put on this wrestling show, like maybe 100 people in there and former WWF superstar Greg the Hammer Valentine hobbled his way up to the ring looking completely old and fucked and wrestled the main event. read this post too quickly and thought you were going to have a real live 'van hammer' sighting. espn classic ran a helluva an awa marathon on friday afternoon, saw some extremely old school scott hall, pre-wwf michaels/jennety as the midnight rockers.

Loved those AWA Classics they have on ESPN. The funniest part is watching the fans and how much they get into it as well as all of the mullets and terrible Oakley Blades you see.
