If I wasn't on NWP all day I might actually be tempted to do some work.
Fuck that.

When I have nothing to do or am working on something it usually involves my computer. If I listen to a radio show or something I don't view NWP as often. I also view about 4 other webpages like fark, digg, slashdot etc... typical stuff. It isn't really addiction, it is I just don't watch TV much. Not sure what I'd do if I wasn't sitting in front of my computer.. Reading a book? When I have stuff to do I'm not around much and when I'm not busy I spend too much time here. The whole internet addiction thing is overblown and kinda media hyped...
Actually NWP does cut into my productivity, but if it wasn't NWP it'd be something else... and I need the internet for my work anyway, so...
Since I do a refresh and switch to another window, it'll pretty much say I'm always logged in, even though I'm not actually doing anything here..

personally i love the internet. without id it id probably spend a lot more time being bored at work, i wouldnt have easy access to tons of great shit, and i might have to resort to spending time in front television.
television is just so much worse than the internet.

think about how many different sources of information it provides and also the ability to debate things with really smart people. its the only place where censorship truly isnt an issue.

Imagine having to rely on FOX NEWS or CNN to get detailed and complete information about specific things that interest you

Now that you've been sucked in and need a computer in front of you at all times, do you ever wish you could go back to the simpler days before all of this nonsense?
I think people who need a computer infront of them at all times have a horrible existence. Its just not basically living. However is it any different from someone who works a 9-5 infront of a computer all day then comes home and watches television untill 10pm when they go to bed? Its probably not any worse but the only difference being a television can be enjoyed by more than one person so it "feels" more social. Both are a terrible existence but one feels more normal than the other.
Do you ever wish you had better control of yourself in regards to internet addiction?
I think internet addiction can only really be said of people who wake up and switch on the computer immediatly and go to bed with the laptop on. If you fall into this category you fucking suck at life. I use the internet for my work. If you think people who work a 9-5 in an office and spend the whole day surfing the internet are less addicted than your "average" poker player then your wrong imo.
Does the fact that you're online so much take something else out of your life you wish you had?
Again what difference is their between sitting watching films or television than sitting on the internet? In my mind they can both be considered mind numbing and boring but one is slightly more social than the other. If you cant find the balance between time spent at home/online and living a constructive life then if it wasnt the internet you would be involved in something equally addictive/destructive in your time. Its the personality you have I guess.
If you stopped using the pc, what would you fill your time with?
This is the toughest question to answer but it would probably be television/movies etc. Try taking all of that out of your house - no internet, no television and nothing more than books and comfortable places to sit and chat and see how long you last without wanting to go nuts. People will always find things to wind away boredom and time. People would drink, hit the casino etc. Its human nature.

QUOTE The term trainwreck has been thrown around NWP for years, you are a compelte fucking catastrophe. short, balding, broke ass, comic-book-reading, philipino nigger who's life revolves around NWP when your priorities should be invested IRL. I love it when you use the words "nwp and history" in the same post, almost like you go back and rerread old threads so you can hope to fit in.

"When under a great deal of stress, the INTJ may become obsessed with mindless repetitive, Sensate activities, such as over-drinking. They may also tend to become absorbed with minutia and details that they would not normally consider important to their overall goal. "

QUOTE(kidnotor @ Dec 12 2008, 01:20 PM) alot of people leave the computer on with nwp logged in.. I check topics from time to time at work. I doubt you'll find any posts from me during the weekend. To answer the question...yes, the internet has cut into my productivity big time. I took an hour and read through the entire heeb/craigslist thread...good fun, but surprisingly didn't increase my income... However, the internet has eased the way we business, so maybe it nets out to be close to the same. EDIT: Nada Dave is very quick with his . NH sir.
