It's my personal opinion that if you are in a particular country -- you follow their rules. I haven't read the article and am not too knowledgeable in regards to Muslim affairs in non-Muslim countries. Does the judge give any reasoning as to why he wants to allow this to happen?
From what I know of Sharia Law, it's not something that any country that values freedom for ALL of its citizens would want enacted. Ship me the hater???? Fuck that -- ship this cunt the "Terrorist ball licker" avatar.

In England a member of the royal family can marry a Muslim, but they can't marry a Catholic.

From what I know of Sharia Law, it's not something that any country that values freedom for ALL of its citizens would want enacted. If you have no in depth understanding of what Sharia law is, how are you able to make any assumptions about what its implications would be. All these knee jerk reactions to ideas which try to recognize the need for assimilation of any group of people in a society are just purely based on ignorance. I lived with a muslim dude for 7 months in India and a lot of the rules that he followed mostly just affect the actions of that person. The most stringent followers of the Muslim faith I found to be very mild mannered and well meaning to people around them and many aspects of "Sharia Law" emphasizes how their actions positively affect their society.

Doesn't matter if the laws are 'better' than the laws of the host country. The law of the land is the law of the land, to use any other system subverts the will of the government and the people it represents. Want this kind of rule? Go live somewhere that already has it in place. Don't like it? GTFO and don't let the British flagpole hit you in the ass on your way back to Trashcanistan.

You're right. In reality some of the horror stories I have heard, which are associated with Sharia Law, can very well be applied to any form of religious extremism. I guess the way it is applied is dependent primarily on who the interpreters of it are.
