QUOTE(DanDruff @ Jul 14 2009, 08:35 PM) High pocket pairs continue to be the death of NWPers in the WSOP.Good job on the run, Scott. That's precisely the reason I decided to shoot off my chips with 7 high, which also isn't effective. gg x, I know how much it sucks, but we'll all be back next year to try again. They can't shut us out of the glory forever.

Ivey Cracks Ward's Kings
Joseph Ward raised to 205,000 from under the gun, and it folded around to Phil Ivey who called from the small blind. The flop came 7h 4c Qs, and both players checked. The turn brought the 7d, pairing the board. Ivey bet 350,000, and Ward made the call.
The river brought the 4d, putting a second pair out there. This time Ivey bet 750,000, and after thinking a bit Ward made the call.
Ivey showed 9c 7c for sevens full, and Ward . Ivey moves up to 11.3 million, and Ward is now at 8.8 million.

I find this to be funny shit.. Would be fucking funny if he could do this in the bracelet ceremony if he could win but ESPN would get all pissy about it and obv not air that part. Fuck Harrah's.
Jeff Shulman to Renounce WSOP Bracelet If He Wins
WickedChopsPoker.com is reporting that Card Player Magazine editor, Jeff Shulman, has said he will "renounce the WSOP bracelet" should he win the 2009 World Series of Poker.
He plans to throw the bracelet in the garbage.
We had been hearing from multiple sources for days that Shulman is saying that if he were to win the 2009 WSOP Main Event, he'd renounce the bracelet as he believes that Harrah's has treated his magazine unfairly in recent years. We just asked Shulman on the first break if this was true, to which he replied, "If by renounce it you mean throw it in the garbage, then yes."
Harrah's entered into an exclusivity deal with Bluff Magazine, a Card Player Magazine competitor, to provide coverage of the World Series of Poker events.
Shulman reportedly believes the selling of WSOP media rights is unfair and that the coverage now is unacceptable.
We're all about the righteous "Eff You," and we understand why Shulman would feel scorned. But if you truly care about the game of poker, why would you possibly do this? What good does this do for the game, or bringing more people to it? And if you're the Editor of one of the two major poker publications, isn't one of your goals to bring more people to the game? As this goes to press, Shulman was slipping a bit out of the top nine but still going strong.
Shulman is the son of Card Player Magazine's owners.

Christopher Costigan, Gambling911.com Publisher I can see his beef with the situation, but no way he does this if he wins. Yes, in fantasy I'm sure he'd like to, but id bet infinite that he doesn't. I can't see any positive side effects of him throwing it away.

Nice to piss the chips away.. This guy had a huge chip lead for quite a while. Reminds me of Scotty from a few years ago.
* < 1 min. | Posted by F-Train Billy Kopp Eliminated in 12th Place ($896,730)
Wow. That's a succinct description of what just happened on the secondary feature table. Billy Kopp opened for 600,000 preflop from early position and was called by the small blind, Darvin Moon. So far, so good.
On a flop of {K-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds}, Moon had first action and checked. He then called when Kopp bet 750,000. Again, nothing out of the ordinary yet. It was on the turn {2-Hearts} where everything went haywire. Moon checked again and drew a bet of 2.0 million from Kopp. Moon then check-raised to 6.0 million. Improbably, Kopp moved all in for about 20.0 million total. Even more improbably, Moon called!
Kopp: {5-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} Moon: {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}
Kopp looked like he wanted to cry when he saw Moon's hand. He knew that he was drawing dead and that Moon had him covered. Kopp had more than 80 big blinds to start the hand; with the {7-Clubs} river he had none. He didn't even wait for the river to come out, barreling out of the secondary feature table area as fast as he could.
Moon is once again the chip leader with a whopping 45.0 million chips.
