judging by that post he owes NH $70k now, plus some others
so lets say ball park 100k minimum and his debt is now at 15% of what it was.....
so we're talking 500k+ at one point?

I'm guessing NW's math is a little off and actually owed closer to a mil. Beav&Butt.gif

yeah I was going for the lower limit, if I make a couple more assumptions it's easily a mil

I don't know why he would post this. Are we all supposed to respect him for this? It's fucking hilarious. He's willing to pay it because he finally made some money. What happens if he wouldn't have? My guess is this topic would have never been posted. This site will never "blow up" as long as this shit keeps going on. GG NWP.

You can respect him or not respect him. You can think hes honorable because hes simply doing well..... and you can continue to talk shit about him if you feel like he deserves it. No one can stop you.

Im amazed at the general sentiment in response to his post.

I cant speak to the accuracy of his words related to his specific situation.

But i can speak to the accuracy of each and every sentiment that hes put forth. Hes clearly thought this through and his thought process has clearly evolved. Some people simply never reach the point that hes seemingly reached. If youre trying to succeed in this business, do yourself a favor and read his post.

Ignore his specific situation if it doesnt appeal to you, but read his post. Read every word and think about the things that hes saying. There are some real gems in there.

I do not have to be the best in the world anymore. And you dont have to be the best in the world to make money in this business. I know what I need to do now.

If you have read my about me on myspace, I stated I was a master of mind on mind combat which means I had a natural talent in reading my opponents mind, and I was able to adjust my game accordingly because I knew all their tendencies, betting patterns, ect. But I never mastered my own mind. My emotions, my ego, was my own doom. I stated the true successful poker players have mastered the both; mind/mind combat and their own mind. I finally understand my own mind now. I know what it takes to be successful at both.

Sounds like a guy who made some money and now wants people to think he's "matured". We never heard about it until he had some money to pay back. Like I previously stated, had he not made any money, no one would have heard of it. That's a far cry from maturity.

I've heard tons of bad things about Dustin whether it be lies, deceit, avoidance, etc. All of the stuff that is already out there. I don't know why he would do some of the things I've heard (if they're all true ... I only know for sure that some of them are true), but to each their own.

However, I also know people who Dustin has helped in the past with loans or stakes. I also know tons of people who did loans with Dustin awhile ago (going back like 2-3 years) and the general consensus has always been "well he can be harder to collect from than the average person, but he always pays back."

So while I feel bad for him because of the situation he got himself into, it was his fault, he knows that and he's doing something to get out of it. I don't think he has any intent of skipping out on someone's loan if and when he has the money to pay back. I am 100% sure he would LOVE to be out of debt and stress. It's a bad way to live.

Good luck Dustin.

For what it's worth (which may not be much to either Dustin or the others on this site) I have had a number of dealings with Dustin over the course of the past several years. I think basically everything he says in his post comes from a place of total honesty. I believe he never intends not to pay people and never intends to hurt anybody. I also vouch for the fact that he is very generous when he is doing well. He staked me once and helped me out of a pretty tight spot even though he didn't know me very well at the time. He may have been deceptive at times and if I ever had an issue with him, that is the reason, but I think he openly acknowledged this in his post and apologized for it. The bottom line is, we shouldn't confuse poor judgment (which I know I often have) with poor character. I believe that the reason Dustin or anyone gets stressed about debts he owes is that he FULLY intends to always pay them. I wish Dustin nothing but the best.

Like i said, im not disagreeing with you.

Theres a guy i play with practically every day for the last six years or so. Hes very religious. Always says grace before a meal, even at the poker table...... and will physically save/steal every bet he can from you when youre not paying attention.

Hes much, much worse when hes losing. Hes not very honorable when hes on a downswing...... and im never sure exactly what type of grace and serenity hes looking for by stealing from me and the others that we play with.

I get what youre saying, trust me. There is no question that the true judge of one's character can NOT come when theyre prospering.

But then i dont think there will be a lot of people lined up to help him out at this point either.

Point is, i dont really care what his situation is right now or whether the reality of his situation mirrors what hes saying.

Im just pointing out that if you take what hes written..... and DONT apply it to his specific situation there are a lot of valuable insights there for those that might not have been through the cycles and process that hes already been through.

Ha.

A cameo from Nat Arem, arguably the most important (positive) figure in the whole AP superuser scandal.

That by itself is worth NWP Pro.
