For the past year in my spare time of hour here, hour there, I painstakingly learned how to mix and also put together a Old School Rap mix.
Yes, I know, kinda weird for an old white guy, but I grew up around it and found myself joking with my friends one weekend about how the essence of the early pioneers got lost. It used to be about RHYMES, beats, scratches and beat-boxing. Upbeat rap with imaginative 'stories' and such. Even the dissing was done different. They'd rap about everything from Buttermilk Biscuits to just chillin on the corner and it was awesome. After NWA hit the scene (despite how pioneering they actually were at the time) it seems like hardcore gangsta style took over and is still in effect even today. Either that or just trying to get club play.
Anyway, download the mix here and let me know what you think. Remember, it was my first ever mix so forgive the amatureness of it, but I think it came out pretty well.
