I think I posted this story before...

I used to play at the Sahara all the time, and there was always this guy that looked like he was straight off the streets that played there regularly, his name was Bill. He had a really long ZZ top type beard, missing a bunch of teeth, and would dress kind of raggedy. I actually became pretty friendly with the guy cause he was a hell of a player and we mixed it up a lot. Turns out he wasn't a bum at all, owned his own carpentry business, drove a really nice Ford F350, and was just a cool hippie type of dude.

So, when they first started running the WSOP satellites at the Rio they were running them right by the sports book. I go up and play one night and I see some people up there I know, including Bill. There was this obnoxious guy playing at one of the tables, just really loud and belligerent, who I was told was Layne Flacks brother.

Me and Bill end up getting into the same SNG. Then along comes the last guy to swoop up a card and it's Flack. Immediately upon siting down he just starts obnoxious table banter, and is obviously pretty shit faced. I get into a big hand holding AA and when I move all in on the river vs my opponent with the guy yet to call Flack says very loudly "he's got kings or aces!!!" Obv the guy folds which really pissed me off. Bill was seated to my left and whispered to me "what a fucking asshole".

Later on when we were down to 4, and Flack still being one of them, Bill is on the BB, Flack comes in for a raise folds around to Bill, who calls. Flop comes out really low cards. Bill checks, Flack moves all in, Bill insta calls. Flack has a gutshot 9 5 offsuit, and bill has top two with 6 8 suited. Flack rivers his gutshot and starts talking all kinds of shit to Bill, who was left very short stacked. First he starts in with "why is this bum calling me with 6 8?" "who does this homeless fuck think he is?" Bill was steaming and they just started verbally going at it to the point where the floor had to be called over. Flack was saying some really nasty (although funny) shit to Bill about being homeless and looking like a bum, asking him if he needed money to eat tonight... So anyway, Bill gets knocked out, and then I unfortunately get knocked out with AK vs AQ (not to Flack) and go out third.

So I go over to the rail and see Bill and we start talking about the game. A few minutes later Flack comes right up to us and says to Bill "hey man, if you need some help later drawing up a sign asking for food let me know." Bill says "you know, normally I would beat the shit out of you, but I don't hit women." Flack gets up in his face and says "you want some you homeless fuck, lets go." Bill says "alright" and next thing I know we're walking out the side door of the Rio (where Bikinis used to be which is now the bowling alley).

They walk out into the middle of the street, and Bill starts dancing around like a pro fighter, and Flack just stands flat footed. Bill gives him a couple kicks to the leg, which Flack unsuccessfully tried batting away with his hands. Then, Bill comes over the top with an absolute perfect over hand right to the bridge of Flacks nose, splitting it horizontally in the middle. He went down hard, and that was it. Bill didn't jump on him, and Flack just laid there in the road while a cab with some Asians in the back road by wide eyed and staring. A minute or so passes by Flack stands up, says "nice shot man" and walks inside the Rio. I asked Bill where he learned how to fight and he told me he's been majorly into kickboxing his whole life, and still spars a few times a week. We then agreed it was probably best to leave, and that's what we did.

A week or so later I saw Flack wondering around the WSOP with two black and blue eyes and a nice bandage on his nose.

not that I don't believe some version of this story happened, but chip runners can't go get 5k in chips without giving cage $5000

That's actually a really good idea. Layne's just as famous as some of the g-list celebs they have for that show, and he'd have more charisma and inappropriate sexual behavior towards the female addicts than almost anyone.
