When you are logged in, click on "My Controls" near the top of the page to the right of your login name. Then scroll down and click on "Edit Avatar Settings" under the "Menu" on the left. It's pretty clear from there - you can choose from the gallery, post an image from a url or a pic you have on your computer.

This is what it says about the size of the avatar: Your avatar must be no bigger than 100 pixels by 100 pixels in size. Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 150 KB. So try to resize if it's bigger than that and if it's not a mod will take it down temporarily until its resized. If you can't figure out how to resize PM me and I'll figure it out (I don't know how to do it now lol but I'll find out) PM me if you have trouble with any of it

Resizing is very easy.
Open in paint.
look for tab at top that says image-click it
choose resize/skew

then you change it by %
