Some of you might know Jason Newitt, also known as JDN:

If you hung out a lot at the '06 or '07 WSOPs, you'd have seen him as an ever-present figure there, arranging Full Tilt TV sponsorships. Seems kinda like a stoner type when you meet him, but that's not really the point here. Anyway, he was the one reponsible for accidentally forwarding Howard Lederer's now-infamous "freak and really weird dude" e-mail to Gobboboy. You can read about that here:

http://archives1.twoplustwo.com/showflat.p...part=1&vc=1

And with one accidental click of the wrong Outlook e-mail button, Newitt flushed all of his years of hard work with Full Tilt down the toilet. Many felt bad for him, as it was an honest (albeit unfortunate) mistake, and he had worked so hard for Full Tilt for so long. But so it goes when you piss off the most important and influential figure in the Full Tilt organization. Newitt was fired shortly thereafter.

Those hoping to see him bounce back will be glad to hear that he won $71k at the Caesar's $500 NL preliminary event.

No word on how Gobboboy feels about this.

Druff,

Saw the Think Tank article in Bluff this month. How is it possible that you had the least to say of the entire panel? Is what's printed the entirety of your remarks or just what made the final story? It's amazing that 2+2 banned Gary Wise. His work seems to be quite prolific atleast in this issue. I think there are 3 or 4 article in this issue written by him. Anyways, nice work on the think tank. Maybe you can get then to add NWP to the reason for saying you are the "controversial Dan Druff."

While a very strong O8 player, I woud have to say by no means is Matusow the best O8 player in the world. Not even in the top 10. I consider my O8 game far deeper/stronger than Matusow's. But to be fair, 99 percent of the poker I play is O8.

lul

Shows how much anyone tells me.

I didn't even know there was a Bluff article.

No idea why I had the least to say, especially given that I had among the most to say in every topic published so far. Bluff must have uber-edited the articles before publishing them. I'll have to go find it.

And as far as Gary Wise goes, 2+2 undoubtedly made a huge mistake in his banning (both in theory and practice), which is why they made the rare decision to undo it.

Why would you link to a 4 article, instead of an NWP thread describing the incident?

You're a freak, and a really weird dude sometimes Druff.

Got the issue a couple days ago and didn't even notice the article. Some guy "Feldman" (Peter?) has just as much to say as Druff and they don't even introduce him in the beginning of the article.

Feldman is Andrew Feldman, who works for ESPN. I believe he's the one Gary Wise reports to there.

So I can't find the article online. Can someone tell me what it was? Is this going to be a regular feature in Bluff? Did they just recap Week 1 of the Think Tank?

It is in the May issue, with Chris Ferguson on the cover. The topic was about online players getting the respect they feel as elite players. It just says "Courtesy of ESPN" no mention as to if it will be a regular feature of the magazine.

Just for the record, that's Pat Kilbane who played Feldman on the Bizarro Jerry episode of Seinfeld.

Article is 6 pages, I would assume it's going to be regular.

Hmm...

Now that I look back, I guess I didn't say as much in Week 1 as I thought. Here is my full text from the ESPN article:

"I agree with Justin's assessment of the situation, and I'd like to add a few thoughts of my own.

Thanks to the intense TV exposure of no-limit hold 'em tournaments, there is a common misperception that the faces people often see at televised final tables are the best all-around poker players. This is usually very far from the truth. Some great tournament players are terrible at cash games. Some great no-limit players have no clue when it comes to playing limit poker. There are some players who are a force at whatever type of game they sit down at, but these people are few and far between. It is interesting how top (albeit relatively unknown) cash game pros often flock to the table when certain TV pros sit down, knowing that they've just found a live one.

On the flip side of things, it can be very dangerous judging a book by its cover at live no-limit tournaments these days. With the plethora of excellent online tournament players out there, the baby-faced, unfamiliar 22-year-old at your table may have thousands of tournaments under his belt and hundreds of thousands of dollars in cashes.

With that said, top online tournament players are likely to eventually make it out to live tournaments, and will make a name for themselves there. Annette Obrestad was perhaps the best example of this last year. The ones who are likely doomed to live in relative obscurity are the online cash players, but then again, live cash players were never glamorized too much in the first place."

If that's what they included in Bluff, then you can expect to see more from me in future Bluff issues, as more of my thoughts were published in subsequent ESPN Think Tank articles.
