I think Dirty B said it best in another thread:
I don't understand how Allen Cunningham is in third. Look at this record:
Omaha High-Low 7th place for $42,110
No-Limit Hold'em Short Handed 29th for $8,490
Pot-Limit Omaha 4th for $141,245
Pot-Limit Hold'em 4th for $89,685
No-Limit Hold'em 1st for $725,405
Four final tables in four different games and a W for 725k? That's really crazy.

(wenglo) Maybe he has played in like every event possible so they couldn't give him a higher ranking then someone who has never finished worst then 3rd in a WSOP event.
So then if Druff wants to win he has to sit the main event out

Well, according to the WSOP official site, besides todays NL 2-7 event the only tournament left is the main event. Although I thought before the whole thing started I saw some events listed for august, guess they cancelled them.

I admit that the system they use is unfair, but I didn't create it!
Without getting into details, the points system gives a disproportionate bias to middle-sized tournaments, while screwing the really big ones. It also gives fewer points than you'd expect for winning, as opposed to 2nd or 3rd place.
This means that two winners doesn't automatically put you ahead of a person with a 1st and 3rd in bigger events, and winning a giant event (like the WSOP) doesn't guarantee you WSOP of the Year status.
Basically, if the final 3 WSOP tables contain 27 unknowns (in the sense that they have few or no cardplayer points), then I will be the WSOP of the Year winner.
Not likely, but it could happen.

what'd be better is if in contained 25 unkowns, 1 dan druff and 1 neverwin.
