From CNN.com:

"In worst-case scenarios, most of New Orleans would end up under 15 feet of water, without electricity, clean water and sewage for months. Even pumping the water out could take as long as four months to get started because the massive pumps that would do the job would be underwater."

MONTHS. That's half a million people's homes they're talking about.

What dumb fucker put the pumps somehere so when you really needed them, they would be under water? Maybe storing them in Shreveport would have been smarter.

How many people do you think are going to find out next week that homeowners insurance doesn't cover flooding?

yeah the city was really dirty on my recent trip to NO. I'd be interested to know what the various homeless people are doing.

Hurricanes and hand grenades are Nawlin's classics.

It's funny all the hotels here in Houston are booked with ppl from New Orleans. It's going to be funny (well maybe not) if that does happen to go more west and hit us. Although it has the chances of hitting us at 5% so shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Was Wal-Mart shithouse or are most people gone?

If anyone in the US is going to need lumber, particularly sheets of plywood, in the next few weeks, go buy them today. The price will skyrocket if you can even get any next week. Supply and demand, fools.
