This has nothing to do with being a right winger.

I never said to not prepare for the worst.

However, the media (and even the NWS) was making it sound like it was all but a certainty that New Orleans would be buried under 15 feet of water until February. That was just a bit hard for me to swallow.

I am not minimizing the damage that actually occurred. I am saying that it does not begin to approach what was being claimed as likely to happen.

I just find there to be a big tendency for those of the right side to be more of the 'don't do anything, its not really a problem'. Whether global warming of a myriad of other things. It has to be something more tangible. Anyway, whatever.. I'm just getting in digs at you like I see you do at times in regards to political leanings. smile.gif

That place still has the water rising. Last I heard they're dropping a 3k lb sandbag on the levy break. Apparently there are 2 of them. The situation is still actually getting worse to some degree.

I agree with you about the news media and how they portray things. Remember the summer of the shark attacks ? Nothing out of the ordinary.. but pre-911. What bugs me is you're only "right" because the storm moved to the east. Then you come around bragging, when NO is still pretty fucked. It was a pretty easy position to take - NO will still be around after the flood. They're saying 15-20 feet deep in some areas, we haven't really begun to assess the structural damage, etc. NO is pretty devastated, and this is WITH the storm missing. You can congratulate yourself on your "prediction", it just comes off pretty weak IMO.

Im sure his power is just out and if powers out then more then likely everywhere doesnt have internet, maybe a hotel but he might not have a laptop. We had a big storm here that fucked up our town didnt have power for a week it sucked, and it wasnt a hurricane so im sure it must really suck for him at least he doesnt have a yard to take care of after a storm that sucks.

It's turning out to be pretty messed up after all, as time goes by. Just heard a guy commited suicide inside the Superdome. These guys are in store for weeks of major uncomfort.

It's called being a realist who deals in facts and not hyped up emotions. Not saying DD was right in this case but in general his way of going about analyzing a situation is far more rational and sane than those on "the left"

Yea, just like GWB pretty much denying global warming and having things rewritten to support his wish of the reality of our world. There have been lots of instances of scientists getting fed up with GWB and his way of analyzing things, then he replaces them with some mouth piece. I can go around and do web searchs with all sorts of citations. This sort of crap didn't happen under Clinton.

Here we have Druff on here telling us the worst case is unlikely. (Ok, fine, whatever - I can agree with that) Then when it isn't quite as bad, because the storm veered, he gets on here patting his own back. GO watch the news, what they were saying could happen isn't that far from what did happen.

Lets not even bring up "intelligent design". Dude, get a clue. I'm sure you can come up with whacked out counter examples from the left, but very few of those are mainstream left. This shit happens all the time in the mainstream right side. How about the whole stem cell ruckus. Yea, they're being "realists". Just like the right realistically thought Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and were tied into 911. The left were all ruled by "emotions" when they protested. What exactly were all those pro-iraq war people ruled by? Ahh well. I'll try to avoid not starting a flame war. giggle.

What exactly did happen under clinton that he actually did? I can think of a lot of things he _did not_ do that have caused the shit to hit the fan since then.

I'll stop flaming after this one.

We were talking about faulty analysis as a function of whether one is more left or right. You seem to be veering off into other territory, but I'll bite. What did Clinton not do ?

Yeah, i got a bit sidetracked when you started talking about clinton. No more though, I'm done hi-jacking this thread. There are myriad areas where clinton lacked in doing things, that was more his style. If he didn't get involved in a sticky situation it was harder for him to look bad. I have more but I'll reserve it for a more appropriate thread.

I thought Republicans were all about hands off government. It is better to do nothing than the wrong thing.
