ThePirateBay.org has a catalog of 60 Minutes episodes online now. I'll guess that it will be the place to find Druffs segment when it gets uploaded.

QUOTE(neverheeb @ Jan 21 2008, 11:56 PM) first, when i'm elected as prez, my first duty to the country will be to invest 100's of billions of taxpayer's dollars into a huge fleet of nigger vessels
said nigger vessels will carry all niggers back to africa
being the humanitarian that i am, i will drop by helicopter boxes full of crack along the african coastline, so that the niggers stay happy
eventually the crack will run out and all but a few niggers will be killed in a huge crack riot

QUOTE(speedz99 @ Dec 1 2008, 12:17 PM) QUOTE(threebet @ Dec 1 2008, 12:11 PM) The last clip of Dan Druff was about as bad as possible. Talking about how this could happen at any site will just scare people more than neccesary. I actually agree with you, and I know they just edit it as they please, but wow that came off terrible.
The whole story just made the whole industry seem shady. The story was pretty factual but wow they could have shown the industry in a better light. Like saying that many of the top sites are very well trusted, etc. It's not like anyone watching that report is going to rush to deposit on a site. If anything, it will make people who were weary just stay away completely. It was a story about an illegal industry that seems not to care about a recent 20 million dollar scam. I'm not sure how you wanted them to handle it or put the industry in a better light. And those were top sites everyone trusted until this shit happened. Anyway, Druff you did a nice job. Unfortunately, I have a feeling that you're a prime example of an average uninformed person that will be watching this.

QUOTE(Josem;7378319) Dan and I were interviewed together. Right after he said that, I made a point of correcting him and highlighting that other sites are different (different jurisdiction, different regulation, etc.) and they unfortunately didn't use that bit.
I haven't seen the actual video (just the text posted on the 60 Mins website) but I'd be pretty confident that his comment was not taken out of context in any way - they were fairly direct questions and answers.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that you're a prime example of an average uninformed person that will be watching this. I'm know more about the online poker industry than 99% of Americans (that's a low estimate)...so you can imagine how little the vast vast majority of the country cares about high limit online poker players getting ripped off. Just saying. But regardless, you took my post the wrong way, not that it matters. I like Anderson Cooper, but he gave Phelps a few too many "strip down to your speedo" looks in that segment.

QUOTE(DanDruff @ Dec 1 2008, 01:19 AM) I listened to it on the phone with reggiman. Obviously I will watch it when 7:00 rolls around here.
My reaction:
THE GOOD:
- They did a pretty good job explaining what happened.
- The tone of the piece was properly against AP/UB, and didn't buy into their BS excuses.
- They called out Russ Hamilton, and made several references to how nobody has been brought to justice yet.
THE BAD:
- They cut everything out regarding the benefits of legalization and regulation. They had interviewed Greg Raymen, Mike Sexton, and others about this, but chose to include none of it. They also did not include the parts where I talked about how a regulated environment would have likely prevented this mess. - They made several references to online poker being "illegal", which it isn't. In addition, they claimed at one point that we didn't go to the police "because online poker is illegal", which isn't true. That almost made it sound equivalent to us being ripped off in a drug deal and being unable to report it for fear of getting in trouble ourselves.
- They made a few references to the players getting refunded, but ignored the important point that we should have gotten much more than that. Again, I mentioned this during the interview and it was completely cut out.
- They scared everyone at the end with my dire warning that "it could happen on other sites at any time". Ouch.
OVERALL:
I have mixed feelings about it. They did a good job (in their limited available time) calling out AP/UB for what happened, but vilified online poker somewhat and ignored the benefits of legalization/regulation. This is 60 Minutes. Anything that doesn't follow their sensationalist agenda is cut out. The WHOLE STORY/TRUTH be damned.
