I have an unrelated suggestion, make sure you are a solid poster because your username is far too easy to mess with....

Great idea as long as you can get into UNLV or you just want to go to community college. Obv Vegas casinos are much better than any Indian casino, so that's a no brainer. Nice 1 bedroom apts. are in the range of $800. Go to the DMV. Stop smoking rocks.

QUOTE(SetofKs @ Jun 23 2008, 03:36 PM) This is a good topic. I am planning to move down there in december after I graduate. When you say $800 a month for a nice 1 br is that just the price near UNLV or anywhere in vegas? What are some good areas that you recommend? Does that 800 usually include utilities? Is public transportation there good? My car is such a peice of shit I don't even think it will be worth it to bring it down there. I'll probably just fly down there with a backpack full of clothes, and a pocket full of cash. So i'll buy a different car when i get there, but will probably be stuck taking the bus or whatever for a month or so. Is it easy to find jobs for a college educated person? I hope to go down there with enough money so I can just chill and play cards while I look for a "real" job and I don't have to work a shit job, but eventually i think i want to find a good job and be a member of society. Any other tips? Thanks in advance! Give me a little time to respond to this.

QUOTE(SetofKs @ Jun 25 2008, 06:34 AM) QUOTE(BrahmaBull @ Jun 24 2008, 11:47 AM) yah, i checked that out a while ago but it looked like you could get 1 bedroom apt in nice part of town for $650. He said $800. 650 might get you a few blocks within the strip which you dont want, your apartment be strapped with bars on the windows and crack heads outside your window waiting at the bus stop. A friend of mine lived a few blocks west of the orleans , trop and hacienda and she got a nice 1 sized apartment for 700 a month this was about a year ago. Wasnt too bad of a placed gated community not much shit going on there.

QUOTE(Jim Morrison @ Jun 27 2008, 01:12 PM) I recommend Southern Highlands. My place is a nice 5500 sq feet for 4k a month. This is probably out of the price range of some of the guys in this thread (they are not balling out yet like Mr. Morrison ). If you're looking for an inexpensive ($700-1000) one bedroom not in the ghetto check out a couple of miles west of the strip - near Chinatown and Spring Valley area. There are plenty of gated apartment/condo complexes with pools, 24 hour gyms etc for very cheap. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinatown,_Las_Vegashttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spring_Valley,_NevadaI live very close to Chinatown and love the area. The big pluses imo: I feel safe, there are so many outstanding Asian restaurants around, it's like 10 minutes to the strip (5 if the lights go your way), 15 minutes to the airport. If anyone wants to pm about places to live, feel free. Bryan and I are moving soon to a place that allows pets so I've been looking a good bit. We are definitely going to stay in the same area.
