So im coming to vegas in a few weeks, for about 11 days total, and want to know what cool shit to do apart from the obvious. Obviously ill be gambling plenty, i also plan on going to the shooting range and going dune buggying, but what other cool shit that isnt as commonly known to tourists should i be doing?

Site seeing is a very popular activity off of the strip. There are a lot of very nice areas that are definitely worth checking out. Red Rock Canyon is always a good start, although it's most likely going to be hot while you're here so that might not be the best of ideas. The most popular site seeing activity is the helicopter tours out to the Grand Canyon and over the strip.

Another fun thing to do would be to go out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway and race around in an Indy car or a Nascar car...

Also there is an indoor skydiving place very close to the strip which is a lot of fun...

Maybe rent a Lamborghini or any other exotic sports car for the day and cruise around town and look like a baller...

Take a ride up on Spring Mountain Road and visit one of the many happy ending places that we are fortunate enough to have, or maybe take a trip over to the Green Door swingers and sex club...

If you want to get a feel for some of the local nightlife check out The Roadrunner off of Eastern Avenue and 215 on a Monday night.

This idea might sound a little strange, but if you're a guy that likes to work out, drive on over to the Las Vegas Athletic Club on Eastern and 215 after 6pm. I promise you, you will never see so many good looking women dressed in barely anything. Giggity, giggity, goo!

These are just some of the ideas that come to mind, and I'm sure there is plenty more to do. If you have anything particular in mind let me know, otherwise I hope some of these ideas help you out. The beauty of this town is there is always something for everybody, just depends on what you're in to.

i don't know if this counts, but since red rock canyon was mentioned, i think lake mead should count as a must-see attraction. ive driven to both places multiple times from the strip, and at the right times of day they are both approx 30 min. both are well worth the drive, and my two absolute favorite places to go outside of vegas when im here.

pro- you can get away with lots of fun shenanigans at both places while still enjoying the beauty of the great outdoors

con- in a few weeks its gonna be fucking hot and fucking crowded. damn tourists...

Doh'! Forgot to mention the one place I spend the most time at outside of my house and the strip. Jenn is definitely correct, Lake Mead is awesome, and you can rent all kinds of different watercraft. From a wave runner all the way up to a house boat.

There is also the Dessert Princess dinner cruise...

Awesome. Definitely come back with a trip report if you get a chance. Would love to hear about the Indy Car deal.
