Hello NWP members Over the last month and a half or so, I've been following NWP closely and have enjoyed the site for what it is. I have found it enjoyable to see an online forum where degenerate gamblers are both nurtured and chastised.
I have been enjoying playing poker, live and online, for the past 2.5 years or so. I finally have some time for this year, to dedicate some serious time and effort into playing the game I enjoy. I find it a bit unnerving to be posting such a request because I understand that really, a person who has their game down to a point where they can consistently improve, really has no incentive to take on a protege of any kind. In actuality, it's probably against their own long term interest to assist in cultivating better poker players. I also understand that time, for a poker player, is a quantifiable to a certain extent. So I don't want to waste anyone's time either.
I know that there are a lot of good players on this forum and I'm certain that I can tap into some of the resourceful minds here and improve my game. I used to have a coach but he turned out to be a fat guy who doesn't have a job and hasn't really had success online or live and I quickly learned that he had nothing to offer me. I don't expect anyone to hold my hand throughout the process and that includes any form of staking. I know many of you have put in a lot of hours studying the game with the resources available over at 2+2, books, and grinding out the various games you guys have played, cash and tourney so I don't expect to get simple answers for simple questions. I'm not going to pester you and make you commiserate on a set over set hand or busting out of a tournament. I want answers to questions I've always wanted a different perspective on.
It's my impression that the poker player's landscape has changed significantly since the moneymaker boom. I think it would be naive of any poker player at this time to assume that the online sites will continue to be a source of limitless income. These are trying times throughout the united states and I feel as though that the source of the dead money is being choked out in one way or another. Probably a good thing for society in general. But I would still like a piece of the pie and anyone who is willing to assist me in some HH reviews, bouncing some theory questions, software assistance, and finding ways to maximize my equity in tourneys. Finally, as an incentive to assist me, when my online bankroll reaches 100,000 dollars, I will donate 5000 dollars to a charitable source in our name. Be it an organization or finding someone who can really use it for tuition or something. I appreciate your time. Comments welcome.
