Short handed LHE weak aces.

Consider the table conditions are that it's 5 handed and you are in position against an aggro player but nothing insane for being short handed. You hold A3 / 4 / 6.

Do you call the raise? Reraise, or just dump it. assume they are off suit.

How about Q5, K6 hands like that from the BB with a raiser and no other action? Float them or peel off a flop?

I'm pretty loose so I usually play the BB hands unless they are like 5To the aces seem like they could be a leak in my game though

Also those same weak aces UTG in 6 or 5 handed raise or muck?

Stay away from offsuited A2-A6 most of the time, unless you're on the button or in the blinds. Those hands play poorly when people 3-bet you in position.

Go ahead and defend any ace in the BB, but consider folding if the raise is UTG and the player is solid/tight (and yes, I'm talking about 6-handed). Mix up your SB play with those offsuited weak aces by doing a combination of 3-betting, calling, and folding. However, you're better off folding the weak offsuit SB aces to anything earlier than a cutoff raise.

I'd advise throwing away hands like Q5o and K6o on the BB to all raises except if the raiser is on the SB or the button. Always fold hands like that on the SB if it's raised (even from the button).

Throw away all outright trash (Jx offsuit and below) from the BB to a button (or earlier) raise. I am pretty loose with what I'll call from a SB-to-BB raise, but even there I'll dump hands like 94o.

One more thing: If you defend AXo to a button raise, be prepared to make some game-time decisions on what to do about calling down with ace high. Don't automatically call down with ace high. Take a look at the texture of the board, and consider the style of the person you're playing against. A big leak of shorthanded players is an outright refusal to fold ace high in a heads-up pot in nearly all circumstances.

A lot of this is player and game-dependent, though. Some depends on your current table image, aggressiveness of other players, tightness of other players, etc.

Ok, sounds good. I might start trashing A2-5o against an aggressive table then. Also folding a couple more BB hands. I'm a pretty experienced LHE player but still helps to get another opinion. Thanks.
