just wondering if druff thinks his involvement with this site has hampered his ability to pick up endorsements or get sponsored by a poker site?

No, for three reasons:

1) Endorsements are hard to come by these days, due to the UIGEA. Don't be fooled by the large number of Full Tilt red pros. Most of them get very little.

2) I am not a regular tournament player, so I have not hit anything big since 2005. I don't play any WPT events, and the only time I'm active on the tournament scene is during the WSOP. I did have some close calls there. I had a 12th and 4th in 2006, and the heartbreaking 10th on the TV bubble in 2007. However, unless I win another WSOP bracelet or go deep in the main event, people's memories of 2005 will fade, and my endorsement value will continue to fall.

3) Despite all of this, if I were female and under 30, I can guarantee I'd be representing some site right now. However, being born with a penis makes it necessary that my endorsements actually come from tournament poker accomplishments, rather than um, anything else.

Bottom line: NWP hasn't cost me endorsements because there were none coming anyway. I managed to get some sponsorships in 2005 and 2006, and squeaked a free Aruba trip out of AP last year thanks to my high activity on the site. However, I don't feel as if I've lost anything otherwise. If anything, NWP increases my chances for endorsements, as it keeps my name out there, rather than just being a forgotten 2005 bracelet winner.

thanks for the response.. i thought maybe some sites would stay away due to the controversial nature of nwp and your close associtaion with it. you clearly are more deserving than some already sponsored players imo. i guess due to the fact that you are primarily a cash game specialist and a limit specialist kind of factor into that as well...so you have never encountered any negative feeback in the business world about nwp? just curious..

Not that much. A few people in live settings have asked me why I associate with "trash" like this site, and I explain to them that it's a forum that doesn't take itself seriously, and that I understand it's also not for everyone. I also tell them that I have always liked "free speech" type online atmospheres, rather than ones that are tightly controlled and censored.

I've actually gotten far more POSITIVE comments about NWP when out playing live -- usually from lurkers who never post here.

Druff, does it bother you that regular poker people don't take you as seriously as they otherwise would, if you were on a different poker site? Obviously, no one that reads this site cares, but you are introduced as the "controversial dan druff". The only reason is because you are NWP.

Don't you think that only playing tourny poker during WSOP doen't make you as sharp as you could be bec you don't do it a lot?

True, I just thought that little nuiances would kinda get lost after a year. I know little things slip by if I don't play for a couple months. It's almost like my level of thinking keeps getting higher and higher the longer I play, and when I stop it just drops a little.
