After the flub w/ my Purdue pick in the Shooting Off Forum, thought I'd try to redeem myself.
As previously stated, I'm an alum of Michigan State so I've been following them quite closely. In there exhibition games they have looked very poor to say the least. In their first game they lost to Grand Valley State University (D-II), it was kind of a big deal and everyone expected them to bounce back and crush Michigan Tech in their next game. However they were once again flat and out of sync and needed some late plays to secure a 5 point win. Both games were at home and the GVSU game was in front of a sold out crowd that was said to be in midseason form. You can write one game off to it just being an exhibition, but they were legitamately embarrassed and even moved out of their $1.3 million locker room as punished and vowed to put on a better show in the next game.
Michigan State will be good this year but with three freshman expected to play significant roles, they need to get their chemistry worked out. Izzo has expressed concern with this factor and it has shown in the fact that he used 25 roster combinations in the GVSU game w/o success. Neitzel has struggled ever since the Pan Am games and the freshman are defensive liabilities at this point.
Fact is they are not yet deserving of being a 27.5 chalk at this point of the season and there is value in Chicago State. Izzo is a class act will not stick it to anyone (except for the Wolverines).
Take Chicago State +27.5
Nothing huge but I like the value presented.

good pick (again)
