Unfortunately my 1st WSOP experience was very uneventful. I played in a $1500 NL event, and was 15 minutes before the dinner break when I busted. I was the chip leader at my table with about a half hour to go, and thought I could just cruise into the money. A poorly timed AK bluff, and half a stack later I get it all in with the same guy and he hits a set on the flop to take me out.
Here are some observations from a first timer:
- I thought the play was much tighter and better than online. I really didn't see any donk moves the entire 7hrs or so, and I was moved to 4 different tables in the 1st hour. If you go, you def should play in more than 1 event. It puts too much pressure on to just play one.
- The event seemed very organized. Some of the dealers were great, others acted like they were pissed off just being there. I saw 3 dealers come out of the stalls at the bathroom, and not one washed their hands (wtf). It took about 10 minutes to get to the bathroom and back during a break.
- Jennifer Tilly was standing by my table for about 5 mintues. She looked good. I also saw Vanessa Rouso(?) and Isabella Mercier(?). Vanessa had a dorky ed hardy looking hat on, and huge sunglasses. I hate to admit this because I like to hate on her, but the hottest girl that I saw at the WSOP was Tiffany Michelle. She looked very good in person. I wanted to meet her, but everytime I saw her she was on a mission. She was standing by my table for awhile, and kept looking over at me like she knew me.
- I met 2 NWP'ers. Vegas: The guys a stud behind the bar, and definitely seemed like he would be cool to hang with IRL. Nicole: As everyone has said, she is prettier in person then on the vids. She seemed very nice and sweet until I told her I was jefferson on NWP and she took off running.
- I looked for micon, druff, neverwin, macon, martha and some others, but never saw them which was disappointing. I obv went straight to the RIO after reading Jewdonk was playing, and looked for the table that I thought hut posted (Red #13), but didn't see him. Nicole was there waiting to interview him, and she said micon had already busted (I think it was the 3rd level), so I went back in to see if I could find JD, but no luck.
- I saw several pros. Scotty Nguyen was the best sighting. I always thought he looked ridiculous on TV, but he looked like a rockstar walking through the RIO. He had the jeri curl mullet in full effect, and the big gold chains with his shirt unbuttoned. Classic. I also saw Hellmuth walking through the casino at Caesars with about a six person entourage.
- HOT! HOT! HOT! Damn, it's hot in Vegas. You get out of the pool and five minutes later you're dry and baking. We stayed in the Caesars most of the time because it was too hot to walk around. We ate at some good places: Bradley Ogden, Spago, Joe's Seafood, and Il Mulino.
- HOT! HOT! HOT! Damn, the ladies are hot in Vegas. I was playing blackjack outside of PURE a couple of nights, and it was a stream of very pretty ladies with some incredibly short dresses. We also had a nice view from our room of the "european" pool at the Caesars. It usually had 3 or 4 girls laying out topless all the time.
