seems supercheap, and they say in ad that even though it's in sketchy area (is this true?) that management keeps the riff raff out. Vegas, you know anything about this? Address: 2540 E. Fremont Street Las Vegas, NV 89104 http://www.apartmentcities.com/Las-Vegas-A...artments_NV.asp

QUOTE(michael @ Jan 15 2009, 01:13 AM) But the mayor said this about the area
"The perception is that it's dangerous. It's not dangerous. I've walked there every single day. It shouldn't be scary because if you talk to Metro, they're going to tell you it's as safe a place as there in any community." He's been trying to revitalize the downtown area forever. Trust me, it's a bad area. You get what you pay for.

Vegas, you know anything about this? Address: 2540 E. Fremont Street Las Vegas, NV 89104 http://www.apartmentcities.com/Las-Vegas-A...artments_NV.aspHow can they keep the riff raff out when the majority of the people renting there are riff raff? You're never going to find a cheap place that is in a halfway decent area. You always get what you pay for. Only way around it is to get roommates or pay more for your place. If you don't have a lot of stuff to be stolen and aren't afraid of living around thugs, I'm sure you'll be fine. See Michael.. even if management actively wanted to keep the place cleaned up, they probably don't have the money to do so because the rent is so cheap... If/when I move back to Vegas for awhile, not sure what I'll do... However, I would not live in a $400 furnished apartment. The ones that are like $800 right off the strip are bad enough. I'm sure it is much much worse.

QUOTE(DanDruff @ Jan 23 2009, 09:17 AM) Stay away from downtown. That area is awful -- far worse than near the center strip, which isn't exactly great, either.
The economy is slumping big time in Vegas, so apartments should be able to be had cheaply -- at least compared to a year or two ago. I love downtown, but then I only ever spend a week at a time there in one of the best rooms at the Nugget, and never stray much from Fremont Street, apart from maybe a cab to and from Andres.

I was in the neighborhood Michael's talking about this morning. It's not a good omen when the Bail Bonds signs have the big letters in Spanish and the small letters in English.

There are open racquetball games at the Minker Sports Complex over there.
