Since I do 99.9% of my drinking out on the floor in the pit or at the poker tables while I am in vegas I am used to giving the standard $1-$5 tip for a drink and the other tenth of a percent is when I am eating but I don't even notice the actual cost of the drink because by the time I am eating the meal is usualy comped and don't give a shit or I just don't notice. I assume you work at a fairly respectable bar...so what do you guys charge for drinks. Bottled Beer, Rails, Bombs, Mixed Drinks (Tall and Short), Higher Priced Shots (i.e Patron)..etc.
Last time I was out there I was with a girl who doesn't gamble and we were just wandering through the MGM and stopped at one of the bars and I believe the bartender told her it was $7 for a bottle of beer. I kept telling her if she'd just throw a $10 into a video poker machine at the bar you could easily have 2-3 drinks if you played slow enough. I hope that isn't a standard rate in a "real" bar and I believe it was just a rate to actually convince people to just play the fucking machines and get rolled there instead on overpriced alcohol.

(RYLAND_THE BALL_SNIFFER @ Aug 6 2008, 06:04 AM) I'm fine with you guys thinking your pissing me off or something acting like this but we all know where im going to end up in poker when being serious. I am up almost 10k this summer in micro FR and 6 max 15-20 tabling and I have tons of backers but yep just keep laughing at me and i'll keep dedicating my life to improving my poker game and getting somewhere big in life.

Good question. Can't tell you how many times someone has ordered a drink and stared at me like a deer in headlights when I told them the price. Also, take note that a lot of restaurants on the strip won't comp while playing at a restaurant bar. Here is the prices at my bar. beers 5.25 up to 7.50 well and call (we only carry call brands)- mix pour 7.50, rocks pour 9.50 specialty drinks like a hurricane- 8.50 premium- mix pour 9.50, rocks pour 11.50 red bull mix with alcohol- 10.75 shots- price falls under rocks pours At nightclubs you can expect prices at least this high, and most of the time an average of $2 more than what I quoted. I was at the Rio the other night and ordered 2 beers and a vodka and cran and was charged $32. Ridiculous, but that's Vegas. Look to spend a minimum of $150 each with a group of friends (4-6) to have a good time in a club. To me, unless you get a table, it's a complete waste of time. Most casinos require you play at least $20 before they comp drinks at the bar, and a lot of the time you have to be playing max bet. The other thing about the floor drinks are you are usually only getting 3/4 of an ounce of liquor per drink (normal mix pour is 1.25 ounces), and usually it's garbage well shit, unless you call your brand. Even then sometimes you still get garbage. Takes a lot more to get drunk.

( I am not a club goer, I goto run of the mill bars typicaly for my night-time drinking ) I assume its because you get better serivce. I definatly do notice off of mixed drinks in Vegas casinos it takes longer to get drunk, usualy I become way too proud of myself from being from Wisconsin and have an extremely high alcohol tolerance but mostly its because of the low dose of booze in a small glass...atleast it isn't a myth anymore. I used to fly out to a small Nevada city called Elko Nevada on comped junkets out of Milwaukee and they had these dives downtown where you could play $2 blackjack. I found it hilarious seeing someone buyin for like 10 $1 bills and before they could count out the wad of singles they would shout out for drinks. *EDIT* Oh btw, Hook me up with some bitches and booze when I flyout to Vegas next month huh? j/k, I am not that cheap obv. I think if any redblooded american can afford to pay a few hundred for a Vegas trip they can obviously pay there own way to get shitfaced drunk. I am sure there is some dumps downtown where you can play a $5 blackjack game on a $100 roll and get your jag on if you are that tight on bread.

I am not laughing at you, but this line is great. Gave me a good laugh. Basically it's like this, if you don't get a table you end up standing around all night holding up the wall. Main reason for me is a table makes it much easier to get laid as well as get your drinks. It just makes the whole experience that much better. Much easier to approach girls and ask them to sit with you and have a drink as opposed to standing around hitting on them.

Us midwesterners don't have none of them fancy tables. We got some bar stools we perch up on and sip our mixed drinks from a Mason Jar...I love this bar.
Makes sense, ...a chick is more apt to walk away easier if she is standing up than sitting down drinking on your dime.

Another thing I didn't mention is when you set up table service before going to the club, you get the advantage of walking in through the VIP section instead of the general public line. This is a big deal considering I see lines all the time out here that are easily over an hour long. This is also a must if you are with a bunch of guys. Try walking up to a VIP host with a bunch of dudes with you and no reservation. You have a better chance of seeing God than getting into that club. Always a plus to already have hot women with you.

This was a couple years ago when I went, since my dad is a huge slot degen baller he'd never pay for the trips so sometimes i'd just tag along for free because they had a poker room with 3 tables. One of the weekends I went they had a 5-20 spread limit holdem game that I absolutely crushed and another time I hit the Royal Flush High Hand Jpot for $2k....I guess I have a softspot for Elko. Its also one of the few citys in Vegas where Whorehouses are legal (Brandi, if you see this...maybe....me+you at Mona's in 6months?) but I never tried but have a couple intresting stories to tell about them. The one "main" casino in the city isn't actually that bad and I'd rate it a C+ overall but all the other casinos in the city are a solid D- since you should never be in a spot in your life to actually shuffle $1 SlotTokens at a Blackjack table. I haven't been there since they stopped running flights from out of state like 2 years ago, my dad and older brother actually miss it (mostly because the trip was free and we didn't have to pay shit) but I honestly rather fork over the $250-$300 for a plane ticket to Vegas than freeroll my way to Elko any day of the week no matter how broke I am at the time but back in the day when $250-$300 is actually all I literaly had as disposeable income at the time I had to make due with the gambling oppertunitys I had.

When I used to go they had 3 tables but only 2 running and it was both 2-10 spread limit but like 1 weekend a month it used to be 5-20 spread limit. I don't think I made any bets under $20 that weekend.
The Red Lion is the only "good" casino in that city, accross the street (Gold Country I belive it was called) used to have table games but it is all slots but the resturante is good there. You can take a shuttle to downtown where there is two shiesty ass casinos (one with $2 blackjack and $3 3-card poker and I believe $2 craps). From downtown you can walk a couple blocks and entertain your cuiosity and get buzzed into one of the few brothels the city has to offer. I am sure Jewdonk would have a field-day in the city. My dad hit a $25 slot machine for 90dimes once and we never had to pay for a flight, room or meal ever but I still recommend vegas to anyone who can actually get on a junket to Elko.....its that cheap to flyout there for a reason (in my case it was free).

I was thinking about doing this same thing on a cruise that im planning on taking during April. By taking care of you if you mean giving you free drinks after that most likely no, depends on the place and the bartender though. If you mean making your drinks strong then yes, but make sure it's a bar that free pours and doesn't get the liquor out of the gun. On a cruise it could be a good thing because you might see the bartender for the length of your stay and he/she will definitely hook you up, unless he/she is an asshole.
