cabs to vegas strip clubs

Is it true that cabdrivers who take you to vegas strip clubs get a handout from the doorman? If so, can you get away with stiffing your driver?

Not true in most cases. People are gonna go to strip clubs regardless. The strip clubs don't need to pay taxi drivers for doing their jobs.

Yes it is true. Normally about $20 they get. Same applies for some massage parlors as well.

so does that mean i can somehow negotiate a discount from the driver since i am essentially hooking him up by asking to go to a strip club? i could understand why a club would want to tip a guy who brought in a customer who just said "take me to any titty bar." id feel jacked though because i know which club i want to visit, so the cabbie is doing nothing other than driving me there.

Depends on where you're staying. If you are in one of the hotels from Stratosphere down to Flamingo you're right around the corner from most of the good clubs. Hell, you can walk to Crazy Horse from the Sahara. Doubt the cab fare is worth trying to negotiate any kind of deal, and they probably won't go for that anyway. Never hurt to try though.

Isn't this the standard "scam" that Cab drivers do in Vegas when they pick people up from the airport? I believe that every single time I've taken a cab from the airport to my hotel i've been hussled into calling the driver back whenever to goto a titty bar. Just seems that you will either get a discounted fare to the titty bar or skate on the covercharge. The reason why I say "scam" because I don't see how you can lose on it if you are getting a free cab ride there or free cover, I just think its a hussle by the cab driver.

Of course it is. I didn't mention that I am not a big fan of the cabbies out here. They all drive like fucking assholes and have been the main cause of road rage for me driving in LV. They fuck people so bad with the ride from the airport too. Lot of scams going on with the Las Vegas cabbies. I think Macon and Micon are definitely an authority on this subject. I recall Micon having some kind of set up with cabbies in Vegas. Maybe he'll shed some light on the subject. Honestly I don't deal with cabbies all that much. I can give you another tip though. If you are ever in a real long line at a cab stand, get the fuck out of that line, walk to the last cab in the long row of cabs, offer him a five to ten spot and tell him you need to go now. Tell him if the cab attendant gives him any lip that you'll say you called for the cab or he was waiting for you specifically. It's worked many times for me.

Vegas actually has a pretty good complaint program in place for victims of rude/nasty/shady cabbies.

I know this because of one my friends got screwed by one and got the dude in trouble. Here's what happened:

My friend arrived at McCarran Airport and got himself a cab. He had been to Vegas many times and knew that it is NOT efficient to take the freeway to get to the strip. He also knew that many cabbies try to do this anyway, to rack up more miles and therefore get a higher fare.

When my friend saw him starting to drive in the direction of the freeway, he said, "Sir, please do not take the freeway there. It's a longer trip, and I'd rather you drive the surface streets."

The cabbie got very rude and told my friend not to tell him how to do his job. He said that the freeway is the correct and shortest route, and that my friend didn't know what he was talking about. Despite continued arguing, the cabbie outright refused to take the streets, and indeed took the freeway. My friend noted down his license #, paid the fare with no tip, and got out at his destination.

When he got back to Los Angeles, he called the appropriate department and filed a complaint about the cabbie. He was sent an affadavit for the official complaint, along with a "photo lineup" where he had to correctly identify the driver. It's amazing how they really all do look alike! Anyway, he picked the right guy, and my friend was informed that the cabbie was fined $250. Basically they took his word for it once he identified the right driver.

I suggest that anyone who has a bad experience with a cab driver in Vegas do the same thing. Make these fuckers pay for taking advantage of tourists.

dont ever take the cab driver's advice about which strip club you should go to. They will take you to the one with the highest kickback, which is also going to be one of the worst ones.


Also make sure you have small bills when taking a cab anywhere. They seem to be notorious for not having change trying to get you to tip more than you should.

Anytime we go to the stripclubs we tell the cabbie we're local and not paying since he gets the kickback. Only one time ever have I had a driver complain and we got out and grabbed the next cab. Even better tell guy in charge of the cab line you want to get a limo to the stripclub for free, unless they are slammed they'll give you a limo and it won't cost a penny since the driver gets the kickback and takes care of the valet. This only works if you have a few guys though, not worth their time if it's only 2 guys since they won't get enough.

Cabbies get paid for taking you to strip clubs that are having a slow night. If they are packed they dont get as much, per a vegas cabbie. Not one that was taking me to a strip club but a tux shop, so no reason to bs me.

Yup, dont take a cab to a stripclub.

When you go yourself, the cover is like $10-20

If you take the cab, cover charge will be atleast $50.

Them cabbies have deals with the doorman at the clubs.

I know this because I went to a stripclub with my own transport and got charged $20 cover. Took a cab the next day and the same doorman was there the day before but now hes telling me $50. LOL. I told him I aint paying that shit!! Doorman: ok, as long as you can get rid of the cab you'll get the normal cover. Went back to the cab driver and told him, fuck off! LOL. well not exactly like that, jus said "im going for a walk, peace out."... cabbie: "but wait, ill take u back to ur room". "no thanks". Cab sits there for like 10 minutes watching me. I walk into the liqour store nearby, kill about 10 mins.. come out and hes still there. Eventually he leaves than I go in. hehe

On Saturday night you "need to go to the Rhino, to get your car....you were too drunk last night and took a cab home." Walk across the street and around the corner of the building, then go back and pay reduced cover. It's free to get in with local ID (provided you didn't take a taxi).

Even us locals have to pay cover if we cab it to the Rhino, unless you know the shataka mushrooms warehouse address, which is directly across the street (and closer to the VIP back entrance anyway)
