The only place I have ever eaten at downtown that was any good was Hugo's Cellar in the Four Queens. http://www.hugoscellar.com/

It is one of those places that is a Vegas secret, a 5 star restaurant right in the middle of a dump. Definitely outstanding food, but for the money I would recommend many of the other fine dining establishments on the south end of the strip.

The only other downtown restaurants I have heard good things about are in the Golden Nugget. http://www.goldennugget.com/dining/index.asp

Honestly I hardly ever spend any time downtown anymore. I can't find any reasons to go there as opposed to the south end of the strip. Maybe someone else knows of some other places down there that I've never heard of.

When I say south end I mean from the Wynn to Mandalay Bay. The list of restaurants is endless. Some of my favorites are Craft Steak and Fiama in the MGM, Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak and Stone Crab in Caesars, Social House in Treasure Island, Stacked in Mirage... that's just to name a few. The competition is so fierce on the strip all the restaurants have to be good or they don't last long.

There are a few places around town that make an ok steak. There is a chain out here from Delaware called Capriotti's, and they probably make the best one I've had out here. The problem is the bread. They just can't make the same bread out here since there is no humidity.

There is a great little Cuban restaurant on the strip called the Florida Cafe. Used to eat there a lot and it was always good and very authentic (I used to eat at a lot of Cuban restaurants in south Florida). Kind of a little hole in the wall place at the Howard Johnson hotel on the strip in between downtown and the Stratoshere. Don't think they're open too late though.

It is called "POPS" and it is open 24 hours. They have good breakfast grinders as well.

There is no such thing as a good Las Vegas eatery, unless you are from the West Coast and can't tell the difference between good food and bad.

Go to Arthur Ave in the Bronx, and you will find about twenty places in a few blocks, too bad that area is not that great, but the food will knock your dick off.

I like Wings to Go.... there used to be one on Decatur, but it closed.... not sure if there are more around town. Buffalo Wild Wings are ok also......

Cheesesteaks are harder to come by unfortunately......

In fact, i dont know of any place in town that has particularly great subs, hoagies etc..... if youre used to East Coast type stuff.

As far as Cheeseburgers...... theres a place in Red Rock called LBS..... that most people think is over-priced but i like the food there quite a bit.
