$50+$5 daily at Stars, 22 people left. First place is about $15k, the top seven or so places are $2k+ but busting outside the final table only pays a few hundred dollars and would be a huge disappointment after playing for seven hours.

Blinds 5k/10k. I have a little over 200k, which is almost exactly average, the chipleader has about 350k (actually pretty good structure until you get down to final 100 or so ASHAMED.GIF). JJ utg, I make it 23456 or some like that. A guy in MP pushes for 300k. The whole table is pretty weaktight, so he definitely has a hand. Probably 88+, AQ+, possibly even tighter. I considered a Hellmuthian fold, but I really felt there was too much value in calling. The alternative is folding and going the "safe" route by stealing blinds, but a few failed attempts and I would be seriously short. This was a great chance of getting a big stack.

if you can actually put the guy on 88 or 99 or TT like you said, then yes i probably call off.

some people might just flat 10s or lower there taking the conservative route, and since you said the table was weak tight, then i could see folding in this spot (putting his range on JJ+, AK)trying to be the one pushing the chips in and not calling them off.

Of course if this guy had shown the ability to resteal at all, i would snap call.

Thanks. I called and busted against AK (obv, (ace on river double obv)), but I don't have a good feel for how important survival is. I also retract my statement about the blind structure, I've gone deep in a few more and it's actually very good. Of course nobody wants to bust that close to the final table, so for every elimination you have to wait 30 mins for a big race to happen.
