wals*** had been playing pretty passive/bad and I didn't think he had much in this particular hand - either a weak ace trying to get to showdown or a draw that missed. Strangely, I had a pretty strong feeling that the BB was going to show up with A5 here...hence, the raise. Obv he butchered the hand (three-betting the river??) but is my re-raise profitable?

I would have 3 bet the flop to try to get the pot heads up. Your raise is definitely profitable and some people would cap the river but I like just calling the 3 bet.

Capping the river is a DEFINITE spew here... especially 3 handed.

3 bet flop, cap river. If he has 55 or A3 bad beat.

It's 3/6... people do retarded shit with a big ace.

Raise is good (as would be the recommended flop three bet). I wouldn't cap the river though if i thought the raiser was any good at all. Otherwise fire away...

Close one.

Somewhat depends upon the player. I would just call in most circumstances, unless the player is a maniac.

The one good thing about capping is that he can't 5-bet you (unlike live, where he could).

I agree that you should have 3-bet the flop.

capping the river is an easy decision and is always player dependent, all u have to know is which players are capable of three betting worse that top 2 on the river, in this case u know u can cap the river every time vs this player. These type of situations should come up often enough so that u can see how they handle this scenerios vs other players as well when ur not in the hand, which is why i always have been an advocate of non-multi tabling unless u are familair with all the players in the game. If your up against a player who will never 3 bet without virtually the nuts in this spot than u just call and never cap. SO THE ANSWER IS PLAYER DEPENDANT AND EITHER MAKE A LOT OF NOTES OR DONT PLAY MORE THAN 2 TABLES UNTIL U KNOW ALL THE TENDENCIES OF ALL PLAYERS
