While watching live at the bike two days ago the hosts were explaining why using $2 chips at the 8/16 table is much better then an $8 chip structure. If they used $8 chips, suppose there is a $320 pot, there would be 40 chips in the middle. It could be put in a neat small stack and easy to count. But how appealing does it look for the inexperienced player that is just playing for fun?. They were using $2 chips and a $320 pot would have 160 chips. Every pot just looked enormous and chips were flying all over the place. The feeling of pulling in a pot with 160 chips and having to stack it all in nice piles infront of you is much more exciting then being pushed 40 chips. So because of this the play is alot more wild because even though it may be the same $$ amount, the average know nothing player wants to pull in the huge looking pot.

(PornKing) What are your thoughts on the $200 NL game they spread there? I have beaten the game overall but don't see it as a good game to play everyday. I doubt you have played it but you might no some players that have?
The NL games are good pretty much at all the casinos, and there are more and more everyday thanks to ESPN and the Travel Channel. I was talking to the poker room guys in a casino in Vegas only like 4 years ago and asked them where are the NL tables? They said they would only run them when there are big tournaments in town, they are an action killer they said. Now, almost impossible to not find NL tables in casinos, the Bike knocked down walls to expand specifically for the NL games.
I can tell you this, and this is probably the best advice I can give you playing these tables live....wait. If you got time and and ask them when they are opening a new table, get in on that table when it open up. Much better game for you than sitting down with people who are super high stacked from playing for hours and can bully you around. They will put you all in every hand because they can...and you don't want to be there.
Hope that helps.

Yes, it's certainly true that Dustin tends to overexaggerate how "good" a game is. I haven't been to Commerce in awhile, but here is what I remember there:
The 40-80 is a mixture of good and bad, depending upon who is there. It's not always an easy game, and sometimes resembles the Stars 30-60 games. At other times, it can be a good game, but there are usually at least a few solid and/or solid-tricky players there.
The 30-60 game is usually really good. For whatever reason, 30 players are almost always especially weak, and the game is easy to run over. Sadly, if you blow on the 30 game the wrong way, it will break, so don't plan on being there all night.
The yellow chip games (15 and 20) are usually pretty good, especially as of late. However, they move them into the crappy main room during tournament time, and I really hate playing in that crowded, aging mess. It's so much more pleasant to play in the top section. The good news is that these games usually have at least 1 or 2 donks, and few really good players.
Let me know when you are in LA, and perhaps I can finally meet the legendary Micon.
