I just curious about people's opinions. I play NLHE live and a bit online as well. I know it probably depends on the speed of the game and so on, but generally how many BBs per hour should I be winning (as a long-term average) before I can consider myself a good, winning player?

How does the answer change if I play online? Would it be per table per hour instead of per hour?

Live is bb/hr
Online is bb/100hands

Both should be similiar numbers they are just formulated differently by the speed of the game, if you are playing 8 tables online you're probably avg about 80 hands an hr per table, so you should be seeing about 640 hands per hour online. Whereas live you would probably see about 40 hands per hour. In theory overall online you would think you would be winning a lot more per 100 but it should be approx the same number say 5BB/100 and 5bb/hr, however your actual amount won per hour should be a lot higher online because you are compacting 640 hands into a single hour vs 40 live hands.

Does this help at all? It's 6:10am if not.

That is helpful lewfeather, thanks. I am interested in hearing many opinions on the topic.

Someone else has to have an opinion on this... or is everyone too busy following the WSOP?

When you put it like that you make a good argument for playing online rather than live.

Bear in mind that the online games are generally harder at the same limits as live, but you also lose playing 8 tables (that I cannot do because my head explodes) because you cannot concentrate as much on the subtle parts of the game you are just playing your hand and position.

Good luck.

Actually, you can make a disgusting winrate online. I mean, it takes very good players to do it. At low stakes, generally lower than 5/10, I've been thinking a lot lately about how people will only bet a certain way with AA. Know what I mean? Like, you call the river with your paired up AK, knowing that they NEVER triple barrel air and that they check down a ton of one pair hands...it's extremely exploitable. You have to be willing to muck AK to a 3-bet, knowing that that nit is always super strong. I mean, Raptor would slap you in the face for playing your hands as if the cards dictated the play....

Anyway, ramble ramble, well, I'm relapsing. I honestly just called detox for some drunkard down by the train tracks. Hope he cleans up.

But, yeah, you can make a disgusting winrate/hr online. Live, the best you can do is probably like 4 BB/hr. Check the 2p2 thread about winrates at 10/20 at the commerce. It was a huge ordeal, but they came up with some reasonable estimations.
