You were playing this game 4 handed. Personally I don't like the way you played it from the beginning. I would have raised 3rd street and tried to take control of this hand early. Because you played it passively on 3rd you sort of left your hand wide open by raising 4th and flat calling 5th. Considering the way the hand played and there were 2 nines out, I'm not sure if I would have folded the river there although it is very possible he could have had a king.

The way you played the hand, flat calling on 3rd, and raising on 4th I would have raised 5th street again, and then see what he does on 6th. Now, after the fact we can see that his board develops more on 6th which is just unlucky for you. But, I am talking about how you should have played the hand on each street, not knowing what the 6th and 7th street cards were. You need to play that type of hand more aggressively especially short handed. Many times when you take initiative and control of the hand, you'll be able to get a person to lay down 1 pair at the river if you should happen to miss your straight and flush.
