The objective in any form of poker is to win consistently and make plays that give you the best possible chance of winning. Many people who play NLO8 think all they need to know is "the one secret" and great fortune will follow. Unfortunately, there exists that nasty derailer of dreams called variance, and variance can turn slightly positive EV situations into losses, and very often makes somewhat +EV situations only marginally profitable, even in the long term. Therefore, if you want to make a long term consistent profit, you need to choose the situations with the highest likely EV to stick your money in.

I've been pondering putting an honest to goodness real blog together for a long, long time now - and I think besides my own chronic issues with procrastination outside the workplace and a lack of time needed to maintain the actual web server have kept my existing domain name, doug.info, hopefully stuck in 2005 or so. Whatever...I always felt that was an investment, that someday some Doug with a ton of cash would decide he just HAD to own the site. I'm still waiting.
So great - the site I lurk habitually now offers blogging capabilities for its members. This motivates me.
