Badugi and cheating

Mar 07th, 2008

The hand that is in question with the early abc player betting into 4 people on the river is almost always strength. However a great player will also bet into 2 people as a bluff or with a marginal hand in low ball games for the same reason mentioned above. Also Jb mentions that the player must always call in that situation because the chances of someone catching a better hand is minimal. While I agree with that statement, I disagree that you should ALWAYS call in this spot. While there are certain situations that arise that should be autocalled this is not one of them. The only reasonable explanation JB believes this should be an autocall is only because of the two people invovled imo. I also disagree that one should only bluff with one draw left. His analysis of lowball is a bit off and I can give my analysis proving otherwise, but thats not the point of this post.

The point of this post wasnt about all the garbage analysis about how to play badugi and how the entire hand went down in fact it's a completely moot point. The point is (and micon u need to fix the home page cuz its completely the opposite) WAS THAT HE RAISED THE INITIAL RAISER WITH TWO PEOPLE BEHIND HIM. If he gets over called by one of the two people behind he can simply, pat the table and throw his hand in the muck fast before someone asks to see his cards, OR if there is no over call the initial bettor can throw his hand away so that he doesnt have to show his cards. Also a raise in this spot forces the two behind to throw away a marginal hand that may or may not beat the initial bettor. In high limit games it is very common for this play to go down. But with the facts that were mentioned about sharing the same bankroll and the history ect, ect, this is a prime candidate for blatant cheating.

If they are sharing the same bankroll it doesnt matter who wins the pot as long as one of the two of them win, when he says I have the goods, to me thats like a signal for saying throw your hand away cuz I dont want to have to show a bluff. If he really had the goods and they are sharing bankrolls he wouldnt mind the call because A. it doesnt affect the bankroll and B. why not show your legitimate hand. In conclusion he would have said nothing if he really had it. If I was in that game and I was acting behind u get instant 3 bet motherfucker and now we are playing the game!

If u know two people are cheating in a game shut the fuck and take advantage of it and dont say a word. If you cant capitalize because they are too good leave the game. This situation was blatant and easy to read, why would you leave when you can get 2-1 on your money in some spots!
